Always be challenging - we are huge fans of Dark Souls and other Rogue-like games (our current favourite being Crypt of the Necrodancer) so we wanted to create something that gave progression but always had challenges and there's only one way to do that and it's DOING A TOWER where on every floor the enemies level up and possibly... other things.

Combat that felt twitchy and quick - we wanted to make sure the gameplay was fast and fun so we mixed some Dark Souls with more twitch based running around and dodging, we then added MMO-like ability markers (red circles of death on the floor etc) so that the player always knew what was happening and give it that twitch based style we wanted.
