Hamdii Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Fortnite will be available for Mac at launch, Epic Games confirmed on Monday morning, and a beta test for the game -- available to both Mac and PC users alike -- will apparently begin sometime before the end of 2015. But there's still no word on the Fortnite release date, yet. It seems safe to assume a semi-major announcement from Epic Games wasn't expected, by many of those attending Apple's annual Worldwide Developer's Conference; particularly with the Infinity Blade franchise having been on hiatus for the last several years. But that's exactly what viewers were treated to when WWDC began on Monday morning, courtesy of a Fortnite demonstration from lead gameplay programmer Billy Bramer. For those who may have forgotten, Fortnite will be the first Unreal Engine 4 project from the engine's developer, Epic Games. Epic has previously described Fortnite as a cooperative survival game that will feature many of the same sandbox elements we've seen incorporated into other recent survival titles. And Fortnite's gameplay will be heavily tied to its day/night cycle. When the sun is up, players will work together (or by themselves) to locate resources and improve the fort they call home. At night, players will defend their base from the hordes of enemies charging forth from every direction. Think of it like a more-structured take on Minecraft's Survival mode with zombies replacing the creepers, skeletons and other monsters from Mojang's hit sandbox game. With a few more weapons than the sandbox game t. In addition to showing off an early build of Fortnite, Bramer told viewers that Epic would host Mac and PC betas for the game sometime later this year. Both are expected to open their doors at the same time, which would pave the way for Fortnite to make its PC and MC debut simultaneously. Unfortunately, the game's lead gameplay programmer didn't offer up a specific timeline for the launch of the Fortnite beta. In the interim, check out the latest Fortnite gameplay footage from Epic Games to get a better idea of what to expect from the studio's first UE4 project. And keep your fingers crossed for new Fortnite info during the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo when it begins next week. Trailer :
