Microsoft abandons version optimized for touch screens Skype app for Windows 8

Preparing the ground for Windows 10, Microsoft announced that Skype for Windows 8 abandons the Modern UI interface, so that in [CENSORED]ure only offer classic PC.

In their justification, company officials explained that Skype version optimized for touch screens has been created for devices with Windows 8, but users of PCs with Windows 7 and Windows 8 desktop version always used.

Anticipating the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft will stop functioning Skype Modern UI interface since July 7, Windows 8 tablet users still use having no choice but to install the PC version if they want to continue using Skype services .

Giving up version of Skype for Windows 8 is part of the new strategy for the union Microsoft Windows Phone platforms, Windows and Xbox in a unique ecosystem of applications.

Besides classical reinstate pair consisting of keyboard and mouse, Windows 10 folds and the concept of dual interface - desktop and Modern UI, that would not make sense for Microsoft to offer two versions of the same application.

It remains to be seen how Microsoft plans to push forward the integration of Skype service with Windows 10. We already know that functions as the messaging and video calls support for Windows 10 will be implemented based on service Skype and integrated with the operating system. But Microsoft states that this functionality will not be available at launch, but will be added later this year through a system update to Windows 10.
