The Portuguese was left angered by his team-mate's refusal to pass in the win over Espanyol but the Madrid defender is adamant the squad is united

Real Madrid defender Nacho insists Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have a "fantastic" relationship despite the latter's frustration with his team-mate on Saturday.

Bale scored a stunning free kick in the 3-0 win over Espanyol but incurred the wrath of the Santiago Bernabeu faithful and his Portuguese attacking partner when he opted to shoot instead of tee up his team-mate late on.

A similar incident occurred in the loss to Valencia earlier this month when both Ronaldo and Benzema were left aggrieved that Bale ignored them and failed to score on the counterattack at the Mestalla.

Carlo Ancelotti warned he will not tolerate the notion of selfishness among his players after the match but Nacho is adamant there is no bad blood between Bale and Ronaldo.

"Their relationship is fantastic. We're a group, we all get on amazingly," he was quoted as saying by Marca.

Nacho, who scored the third goal in Saturday's game, was delighted to see Madrid put their back-to-back defeats behind them and get back to winning ways in the title race.

"I'm happy about the goal above all and for playing in this shirt and in this stadium – it's wonderful," he added.

"We had to win. In a club as a big as this everything gets magnified. Now it's time to think about Thursday [when Madrid face Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey].

"It's true we lost the last two games, but it can't be forgotten what we achieved, the record of wins."
