Bideford have made an unbeaten start to the new year with a win and a draw in the space of 48 hours over the weekend.

They started 2015 with a win on New Year’s Day, putting three past visiting Paulton Rovers.

Richard Groves opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and Sean Downing doubled that advantage five minutes later.

The Robins continued to control the game in the second half, and they got their reward in the 65th minute when Kevin Squire completed the scoring.

They followed up that result with a valuable point away to Dunstable Town on Saturday, in one of only three Southern League premier matches to beat the rain.

A goal-on debut for Danny Tapp looked set to scoop Bideford all three points again, but they were denied in the closing stages when Jamal McKenzie-Lowe struck for the home side.

It was still a good point away to their mid-table opponents though, and it has been a strong reply after suffering a heavy defeat at Truro on Boxing Day.

Biddy are now 17th and seven points clear of the relegation places, with a trip to Arlesey Town to come on Saturday.
