The Ayrshire side are currently in a slump, having lost seven and drawn one of their last eight games which has saw them crash out of the William Hill Scottish Cup to Championship side Rangers while dropping down to eighth in the Scottish Premiership table.

Killie have not won in front of their home support since a 2-0 defeat of Dundee United on October 3 and Johnston is looking to take get back on track at Rugby Park following their most recent loss, a 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen last Sunday.

"It is a home game and we need to get back to winning at home again," he said.

"We have had a lot of hard away games; Aberdeen, Dundee United, Rangers so it has been a really tough list of fixtures recently.

"But we need to turn the performances such as the one against Aberdeen into wins.

"If we had played like that against Ross County and Dundee, we would have won those games.

"So I am looking for the same level of performance.

"We know it is going to be difficult because Hamilton are flying at the moment.

"They don't give you a minute and a lot of plaudits must go to them. They are a physical team but they pass the ball well and they have a lot of talented players.

"But a win would kick-start our Christmas period and build our confidence."
