Card Thief is one of those rare mobile board games that isn't merely a translation of something usually sold in a cardboard box. Card Thief uses cards in a novel way that takes full advantage of its digital home with complex strategy and unique elements that would be difficult on the tabletop. It's fast, addictive fun—as all mobile games should be—with great strategic depth that is difficult to master. If you're willing to learn, you'll be well rewarded by this Editors' Choice mobile game available for both Android and iOS.
The Magpie Calls Card Thief is available for both iPhone and Android, but with a pricing twist. The Android version of Card Thief (which is what I tested) is free, but requires a $2.99 in-app payment to unlock some features. On iPhone, the game is $2.99 up front. That can seem like a lot in an age of free mobile apps, but it's well worth the money. Best of all, the paid version has no ads and can be played offline—an ever-more rare feature for free mobile games.
