  5. Jio Platforms, the digital arm of Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, has launched a virtual desktop service for set-top box users. This means that India’s richest man, Reliance’s chairman Mukesh Ambani, hopes to turn millions of TVs in the world’s most populous country into PCs. Called JioPC, the service offers a cloud-based PC experience through Jio’s set-top box, which comes bundled for free with the telco’s home broadband service or can be purchased separately for ₹5,499 ($64). Currently in free trial and available via waitlist, users can access the virtual desktop on their TV by plugging in a keyboard and mouse once they receive an invite and set up their account. At present, the service has some limitations, including no support for external peripherals, such as cameras and printers. Similarly, it supports open source LibreOffice, which is pre-installed. To use Microsoft Office apps, users need to access them via the available browser. That said, Ambani’s move with JioPC looks promising — at least on paper. Tarun Pathak, a research director at Counterpoint, told TechCrunch that JioPC is a very effective way for the Mumbai-headquartered company to increase its user base, which already has over 488 million users. Around 70% of Indian households have a TV, but only 15% of them own a PC, per Pathak. But Jio Platforms could have its hands full with marketing and explanations. “You need to convince people that you can still use a PC on your TV using the set-top box,” he stated. India’s active pay-TV set-top box user base stands at nearly 57 million, per government data. However, the traditional direct-to-home (DTH) TV market is shrinking as more consumers shift to internet-based services. As of March, the active DTH subscriber base had declined by 8% year-over-year, the data shows. https://techcrunch.com/2025/07/11/indias-richest-man-wants-to-turn-every-tv-into-a-pc/
  6. While it might seem like AI models are rapidly overtaking the endeavours of squishy human beings, it appears some hope of staying ahead of our AI overlords may remain. And in this case, that hope is personified by Przemysław Dębiak, a former OpenAI employee who has narrowly beaten one of the company's models in a coding world championship. Dębiak was competing in the AtCoder World Tour Finals 2025 Heuristic contest in Tokyo last week, pitting his coding skills against not only multiple human competitors, but OpenAI's "OpenAIAHC", a custom simulated reasoning model similar to OpenAI o3 (via Ars Technica). The competition involved contestants solving a complex optimisation problem over a 10-hour period, before being scored on their achievements. Dębiak, competing under the name "Psyho", earned a final score of 1,812,272,588,909, placing him top of the leaderboard and trouncing the AI, which scored 1,654,675,725,406, earning it a second-place finish. Taking to X to celebrate his achievement, Dębiak proudly announced, "Humanity has prevailed (for now!)", but admitted the competition had taken its toll: "I'm completely exhausted. I figured, I had 10 [hours] of sleep in the last three days and I'm barely alive." OpenAI, however, seems quite happy with its model's silver-medal achievement. Speaking to Ars Technica, a company spokesperson said: "Models like o3 rank among the top 100 in coding/math contests, but as far as we know, this is the first top-three placement in a premier coding/math contest. Events like AtCoder give us a way to test how well our models can reason strategically, plan over long time horizons, and improve solutions through trial and error—just like a human would." Officially, OpenAI might be correct. However, it's worth noting that two Google DeepMind systems, AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2, earned themselves a silver-medal-equivalent score in one of the world's hardest maths competitions last year, although neither model officially entered into the competition itself. This particular competition is believed to be the first time an AI model has directly competed against human programmers in a coding contest, and while I don't want to knock Dębiak's achievement, it's pretty impressive that the machine came in second place. That probably doesn't bode well for the future of human coding competitors, as while programmers are inevitably improving their skills, the immense speed of AI development is likely to mean it won't be long before AI models are topping the leader boards in similar events. For now, though, the champagne bottle and winner's laurels are firmly in Dębiak's hands, although being a coding competition, it was probably an energy drink followed by an eventual lie-down. Chalk another one up for humanity, though—we've still got it where it counts. Just about, I reckon. https://www.pcgamer.com/software/ai/humanity-has-prevailed-for-now-says-former-openai-employee-admitting-hes-barely-alive-after-beating-one-of-its-ai-models-in-a-coding-world-championship-fight/
  7. Think of the best gaming motherboard as the foundation for your future PC. Your motherboard dictates what your gaming PC can and can not do. It also tells what components you should buy since not all PC parts fit into all motherboards. A good motherboard should ideally provide you with worry-free gaming lasting multiple CPU and GPU generations. When it comes to AMD's Zen 5 processors, the best AMD AM5 (X870) gaming motherboard is the MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk, thanks to its excellent feature set for a very reasonable price, but those looking for a more budget offering should check out our best B650 gaming motherboard pick, the Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi. If you're on current-gen Intel, the absolute best is the Asus ROG Maximus Z890 Hero, but if you're using a 13th or 14th Gen Intel CPU you should check out the MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi. We've put a couple of budget Intel motherboard picks below, too, for whichever generation you're on. Regardless of whether you're looking for boards with an AM5, AM4, LGA 1700 or the brand spanking new LGA 1851 socket, this guide covers all your bases for a great gaming PC build. If you want something smaller than what we're showing here, however, then check out our guide to the best Mini-ITX motherboards. https://www.pcgamer.com/best-gaming-motherboards/
  9. Back in my carefree Tales of Destiny days, all that wide-eyed ten-year-old me could do to feel mildly insurgent was to sneak to a cave off the beaten path, in vehement defiance of the next town the narrative was telling me to visit. In Neverness to Everness, becoming an outlaw is inevitable - so before you step into the colourful world of Hethereau, you'd best be prepared to embrace the full criminal life. Everyone's calling it an anime GTA In my aforementioned Tales of Destiny act of anarchy, the exhilaration of taking on enemies far stronger than I was - and getting beaten to a pulp within seconds - was an absolute thrill, because even though I'm the most non-confrontational person in the world, it's fun to feed my (non-existent) rebellious side every once in a while. Etheria: Restart review - “An attractive RPG that will demand a lot of your time” In Neverness to Everness, you're encouraged to cause chaos to add even more colour to the already vibrant city, as you're free to do literally whatever you want across its open world. Want to commandeer a car from a hapless citizen? Go right ahead. Need to flex those itchy hands? Feel free to steal people's personal belongings while they're not looking. Eager to rise up the ranks on the police's Most Wanted list? You don't even need to ask. Paint the town red and the world's your oyster and all that - plus, it's all presented with gorgeous Genshin-esque visuals powered by the Unreal Engine, with streets that look wet after the rain and nights that shine under the city lights when you're out and about. And when you're on your sweet ride of choice (the RPG gives you a taste of the biker's life to begin), cruising through the highways without the weight of the world on your shoulders, anything's possible. It's the end of the world…but this is fine Well, in reality, there is some weight you'll have to carry along with you, as you're tasked with investigating Anomalies that are literally turning the world upside down. The futuristic society you're in is the epitome of order, but the unexplained Anomalies popping up here and there are ruining the utopia by turning otherwise harmless objects and locations into twisted versions of themselves. https://www.pocketgamer.com/neverness-to-everness/preview/
  10. I've always said that the worst part of any multiplayer game is the people you play with. Yes, there are some absolute gem moments of camaraderie and teamwork, but most of the time, you have to deal with the worst sides of people, as some players in Dune: Awakening have sadly found out for themselves. Apparently, there's been a group of hackers in Dune: Awakening that not only mani[CENSORED]te the speed of a carrier to make it move faster than an MK6 Scout at full speed, but they've been using this to pluck other players' ornithopters out of the sky, take them to a remote location and then execute them. One encounter was caught on video by a redditor SpooN04: "We know their names, our whole server knows their names. Players on their first day in Dune learn their names. There have been hundreds of reports with evidence just like this. We have been reporting them since near-launch." SpooN04 has made it their life's mission to keep sacrificing the (kind of expensive) 'thopters until Funcom finally cracks down. "Technical limitations to detect hacking are one thing, but blatantly ignoring an entire server's multitude of CS tickets for weeks is some grade A bullshit. The hackers have said that I am personally on their hit list now. But I will keep sacrificing thopters for video evidence until Funcom's CS finally lifts a finger. (Funcom reward my faith in you)." https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/one-dune-awakening-player-will-not-bend-the-knee-to-hackers-laying-waste-to-ornithopters-i-am-personally-on-their-hit-list-now/
  11. Rabat – The Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane has issued a new fiery statement, accusing a government minister of allegedly falsifying an official document to avoid paying taxes. Benkirane did not mention any names, but converging reports said his recent post pointed to Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi. “A minister falsifies an official document submitted to the tax authorities, declaring less than one-tenth of the property’s actual value to evade due taxes, blatantly violating the Constitution,” Benkirane wrote. He also called for the minister’s resignation, as per the “rule of law and institutions and by the principle of accountability.” Benkirane’s accusations came in the aftermath of leaked documents allegedly obtained by the Algerian hacker group Jabaroot, claiming to show financial and real transactions linked to government officials. In addition to Benkirane, the Democratic Left Federation (FGD) also called on the government to open an investigation into the leaks. “This comes about what has been reported in the media and revealed in the ‘Jabaroot’ leaks, which suggests the involvement of current government ministers in cases of corruption and abuse of influence,” the party said, urging for an intervention. The party requested that the public prosecutor investigate the case in a transparent process to assign responsibilities and apply all legal consequences. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2025/07/231696/pjds-abdelilah-benkirane-accuses-ouahbi-of-alleged-tax-fraud/
  12. Sofyan Amrabat’s future at Fenerbahçe is in limbo. The Moroccan international, who joined from Fiorentina last season for €12–14 million with a mandatory purchase clause, has been informed he is not part of José Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming season. Despite this, Amrabat has rejected two offers – both from Serie A clubs – citing a significant pay cut. The 28-year-old currently earns €5 million per year in Istanbul, while the Italian offers reportedly did not exceed €2 million. With a contract running until 2028, Amrabat has told the club he intends to stay unless a more suitable offer arrives. His stance has placed Fenerbahçe in a financial bind, as the club looks to offload fringe players and cut its wage bill. Last season, Amrabat featured in 39 matches, scoring twice and assisting four times. His refusal to leave without proper compensation is complicating the club’s summer plans. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2025/07/231703/sofyan-amrabat-refuses-to-leave-fenerbahce-amid-exit-talks/
  13. Marrakech – If FNAP 2025 had a heartbeat, its closing night this Monday was the crescendo. Held under the stars at the iconic El Badi Palace, the final chapter of this five-day cultural symphony was everything it promised to be – electric, emotional, and undeniably Moroccan. The crowd, larger than any of the previous nights, rose to its feet as the national anthem played. They chanted, they clapped, they celebrated. The walls of the centuries-old palace echoed with unity. From the very first note, the night belonged to Morocco. Festival President Mohamed Knidiri took the stage and offered a simple yet powerful message: “Our culture, our identity, our life.” He congratulated the audience and artists alike: “There is nothing like this abroad. Congratulations to us.” With pride, he shared that around 200,000 people had attended the shows, a testament to the festival’s role as a vibrant dialogue between art and identity. Then came the moment the crowd had been waiting for. Saida Charaf stepped onto the stage, and the energy soared. Applause turned to cheers, cheers to dancing. She opened with Sahraoui rhythms, then journeyed through Ouad Zem, Khouribga, and back to the Sahara, each time transforming the stage into a new region of Morocco. Every rhythm she touched turned to gold. With every song, Charaf carried the audience further on their musical voyage, from the pulse of Reggada in the North, where she invited the audience to sing with her, to the chants of Hassadas Assilah, to Sahraoui Charaa. But what brought the palace to collective stillness was her performance in Tamazight. In a city as linguistically diverse as Marrakech, where Moroccan Arabic is the dominant tongue, the crowd’s perfect singing in Tamazight was nothing short of astonishing. It was a celebration of Amazigh identity, and a testament to Morocco’s cultural mosaic. In that moment, language wasn’t a barrier, it was rather a bridge. One audience member told MWN: “She’s the best FNAP could’ve brought. She blends every dialect, every genre, every culture, and every emotion. We traveled the whole country without leaving our seats.” As if the night needed any more magic, the MCs brought El Hajj Youness and renowned Moroccan vocalist Fouad Zbadi on stage. Youness shared, “This is the first time I’ve seen a festival this good. We saw the whole folklore tonight with Saida. This is one of the greatest festivals worldwide.” When Zbadi spoke, the crowd cheered before he could finish a sentence. “No group is like the other,” he said. “This diversity is mesmerizing. It’s beautiful.” Moments later, he and Charaf sang together, a duet that stunned the audience with its harmony. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2025/07/228307/fnap-2025-bids-farewell-to-marrakech-with-a-musical-love-letter-to-morocco/
  14. Rabat — North Macedonia announced its support for Morocco’s 2007 Autonomy Plan as the only basis for resolving the Western Sahara dispute, marking another diplomatic victory for the North African country’s position on its territory. The North Macedonian government announced this stance in a joint declaration signed Monday in Skopje by Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski and his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita. Mucunski reaffirmed his country’s longstanding support for the UN-led process aimed at finding a fair, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution for all parties involved in the dispute. The two countries expressed commitment to UN leadership in the political process and voiced support for UN Security Council Resolution 2756 from October 2024. This resolution stressed the role and responsibility of the parties in seeking a realistic, durable, and compromise-based political solution. RelatedPosts The ministers also backed the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy and his mission to advance the political process in line with relevant Security Council resolutions and UN Charter principles. North Macedonia’s position adds to growing international momentum behind Morocco’s autonomy initiative. In a letter to King Mohammed VI, France’s President Emmanuel Macron called the plan that Morocco proposed in 2007 as the “only basis” to solve the dispute. On June 1, during a joint press conference in Rabat, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said that his country would change its position to support Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for the Western Sahara, calling it “the most credible, viable, and pragmatic” solution to the conflict. The US recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara in 2020, while Spain shifted its position in 2022 to support the autonomy plan as “the most serious, realistic and credible basis for resolving the dispute over Western Sahara.” https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2025/07/231728/sahara-north-macedonia-backs-moroccos-autonomy-plan/
