Fresh from restarting production after a two-month factory shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Lamborghini has revealed its new Huracán Evo Rear-Wheel-Drive Spyder. Joining the Evo Coupé, Evo Spyder and Evo RWD Coupé, the latest member of the range features an electrically folding fabric roof that can lower within 17sec while the car is moving at speeds of up to 31mph.The RWD Spyder takes its power from the same naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 as its hard-top sibling. It sends 602bhp and 413lb ft to the rear axle by way of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. That’s 29bhp less than in the four-wheel-drive Huracán Evo.Performance figures are remarkably similar between the two RWD models, despite the roof mechanism and structural enhancements adding 120kg to the dry weight of the Spyder. Its 0-62mph time of 3.5sec is just 0.2sec longer than that of the RWD Coupé and its 201mph top speed falls just 1mph short.Like the RWD Coupé, the new drop-top can be told apart from its four-wheel-drive Evo Spyder stablemate by subtle styling tweaks, including a new front splitter with larger air intakes and vertically oriented cooling fins, a bespoke rear diffuser and a gloss black rear bumper. The Evo Spyder’s prominent twin buttresses are carried over for enhanced aerodynamic efficiency and maximum downforce (Lamborghini claims RWD Coupé-matching figures for both) and a pair of removable windshields minimise road noise when the roof is lowered. The rear window can be electrically lowered, irrespective of the roof’s position, to let more of the V10’s sound penetrate the cabin. The two-seat interior is essentially identical to that of the RWD Coupé, with infotainment and driver assistance functions controlled via an 8.4in touchscreen mounted in the centre console.Apple CarPlay features as standard, as does Amazon Alexa voice recognition functionality – a feature that was introduced on the Huracán earlier this year. There’s no Android Auto, though. Lamborghini says the RWD Spyder’s dynamic performance is also on a par with that of the RWD Coupé, with the Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) specially tuned for consistent torque delivery and traction even under hard cornering. The same three driving modes – Strada, Sport and Corsa – are available, offering varying degrees of electronic assistance suited to different driving environments. Largely composed of lightweight materials such as thermoplastic, aluminium and carbonfibre, the RWD Spyder has a power-to-weight ratio of 399bhp per tonne and a weight distribution of 40/60 front to rear.

Former US President Barack Obama has strongly criticised his successor Donald Trump over his response to the coronavirus crisis. In a private call, he called the US handling of the pandemic "an absolute chaotic disaster".Mr Obama has said he wants to play a larger role supporting Joe Biden in the presidential election in November. His new remarks were made in a call meant to encourage former staff to work for Mr Biden's campaign, CNN reports.Mr Trump's approach to government is partly to blame for the US response to coronavirus, Mr Obama said."It would have been bad even with the best of government," he was quoted as saying in the call. "It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset -- of 'what's in it for me' and 'to heck with everybody else' -- when that mindset is operationalized in our government." Mr Obama also strongly criticised the decision to drop criminal charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn during the Trump-Russia investigation. What is the coronavirus situation in the US?More than 77,000 people have now died and the US has 1.2m confirmed cases - both by far the highest in the world. Many states introduced lockdown measures in March but have now lifted restrictions, allowing people to return to work. But health officials warn this may lead the virus to spread further.Mr Trump's approach to the pandemic has oscillated. In February he dismissed the threat, saying it would disappear, but by mid-March he acknowledged its severity. In April he suggested that ingesting disinfectant could be a preventative - something experts immediately rejected.Last week he announced he would close down his government's coronavirus task force but later said it is re-focusing on opening the economy

Black coffee not just acts as a wake-up drink but the warm bitter concoction comes with other benefits too. Coffee lovers would agree, a cup of concentrated caffeine can help you meet all kinds of deadlines. Though people have mixed opinions, it must be consumed wisely to avoid potential harmful effects.Among its many benefits, drinking coffee or tea is associated with a lowered risk of type 2 diabetes, and consumption of at least three cups per day may help, according to a study. Here’s how you can prepare black coffee: * Boil a cup of water * Add a teaspoon of coffee powder. Generally, people don’t add sweetener, but that depends on one’s taste. Below are some of the health benefits of black coffee * Boosts memory: A cup of black coffee in the morning boosts your attention and keeps your mind at its optimum pace. For years, drinking coffee has been associated with having a reduced risk of developing Parkinson’s disease (PD). In fact, a 1968 study suggested that coffee drinkers were less like to get PD (Nefzger, Quadfasel, & Karl, 1968). * Better workouts: Black coffee helps improve your performance at the gym. It helps to break down fat and release it in the bloodstream as fatty acids, which can be used up as a fuel for the body. * Promotes weight loss: Black coffee boots your metabolism by 50 per cent and helps you burn fats. It also reduces water content in the body. * Rich in antioxidants: It has antioxidants such as potassium, magnesium, Vitamin B2, B3 and B5. * Healthy liver: Regular intake of black coffee has been linked with the prevention of liver cancer, fatty liver disease, hepatitis as well as alcoholic cirrhosis.

Restrictions on movement and the enforced closure of retail outlets, including car showrooms, have been in place across Europe since mid-March and had a huge impact on new car sales across the Continent. For example, registrations in the UK were down 97.3% year-on-year in April.Various European countries are beginning to slowly ease restrictions, which could lead to car dealerships opening with social-distancing protocols in place. There's hope that Europe could mirror China, where the lockdown was introduced far earlier and car sales are already returning to pre-pandemic levels. But during a presentation on the BMW Group's latest financial results, Zipse said: "I want to make it quite clear: China is only of limited use as a blueprint for development in other markets. In our most important sales region, Europe, the picture is extremely mixed."It is clear that automotive demand in countries that have been hard hit by the pandemic, like Spain, Italy and the UK, will probably remain relatively low for the rest of the year."The BMW Group revised its financial outlook in March but has now lowered it again, with Zipse saying the firm expects both sales and profit to be "significantly" lower than in 2019.He added: "It has become apparent that the measures to contain the corona pandemic have lasted longer in many markets. It is therefore clear that delivery volumes in these markets are not going to return to normal within just a few weeks, as was assumed."BMW Group sales were down 20.6% globally in the first three months of 2020, including an 18% decline in Europe. But Zipse noted that sales subsequently fell by 44% globally in April.Despite that 20.6% decline from January to March, the BMW Group's pre-tax profit of €798 million (£686m) was actually up 4.7% on the same period last year, largely due to a one-off charge in 2019 relating to EU antitrust proceedings.Zipse said that the BMW Group remains committed to meeting both the new European Union fleet emission targets and Euro 6d emissions standards, and that it was "strongly opposed to calls for moratoria" that would postpone deadlines in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Researchers in the US and UK have identified hundreds of mutations to the virus which causes the disease Covid-19. But none has yet established what this will mean for virus spread in the po[CENSORED]tion and for how effective a vaccine might be.Viruses mutate - it's what they do.The question is: which of these mutations actually do anything to change the severity or infectiousness of the disease?Preliminary research from the US has suggested one particular mutation - D614G - is becoming dominant and could make the disease more infectious, and perhaps more severe. But it hasn't yet been reviewed by other scientists and formally published. The researchers, from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, have been tracking changes to the "spike" of the virus that gives it its distinctive shape, using a database called the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID).They noted there seems to be something about this particular mutation that makes it grow more quickly - but the consequences of this are not yet clear. The research team analysed UK data from coronavirus patients in Sheffield. Although they found people with that particular mutation of the virus seemed to have a larger amount of the virus in their samples, they didn't find clear evidence that those people became sicker or stayed in hospital for longer.'Mutations not a bad thing'Another study from University College London (UCL) identified 198 recurring mutations to the virus. One of its authors, Professor Francois Balloux, said: "Mutations in themselves are not a bad thing and there is nothing to suggest SARS-CoV-2 is mutating faster or slower than expected."So far, we cannot say whether SARS-CoV-2 is becoming more or less lethal and contagious."A study from the University of Glasgow, which also analysed mutations, said these changes did not amount to different strains of the virus. They concluded that only one type of the virus is currently circulating. Monitoring small changes to the structure of the virus is important in understanding the development of vaccines.Take the 'flu virus: it mutates so fast that the vaccine has to be adjusted every year to deal with the specific strain in circulation.Drug developmentMany of the Covid-19 vaccines currently in development, target the distinctive spikes of the virus - the idea is that getting your body to recognise a unique element of the spike will help it to fight off the whole virus. But if that spike is changing, a vaccine developed this way could become less effective. At the moment this is all theoretical. We don't yet have enough information to say what changes to the virus's genome will mean. UCL study co-author Dr Lucy van Dorp said being able to analyse a large number of virus genomes could be "invaluable to drug development efforts".

Countries around the world are imposing severe restrictions on their po[CENSORED]tions in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus. Many countries have effectively closed their borders to all but their own citizens, imposed strict controls on internal travel and ordered people to stay in their homes.Who is restricting travel from abroad? Some of the first restrictions were on travel from China, but then other countries were added as virus hotspots began to emerge elsewhere.Japan, which earlier banned entry to visitors from certain areas of China and South Korea, has now extended this to 21 European countries and Iran, and is telling arrivals from the US to go into quarantine for 14 days.Australia and New Zealand have banned entry to all foreigners, with Australia telling all citizens and residents who return to the country they must go into quarantine for two weeks.Singapore has done the same, stopping visitors entering and requiring all citizens, permanent and long-term residents to self-isolate at home for 14 days. And South Korea has said that anyone arriving from abroad, including their own citizens, will have to self-isolate for two weeks.India has suspended all visas for foreigners until mid-April.Canada, the US and the European Union have also imposed restrictions. The EU sealed its external borders on 18 March to anyone from outside the bloc for at least 30 days. The US has closed its northern border with Canada and is cracking down on people trying to cross illegally from Mexico. And China itself, where the Covid-19 outbreak started, has now banned all foreign visitors, concerned that new cases of the virus are starting to come from abroad.

Virgin Atlantic has announced it is to cut more than 3,000 jobs in the UK and end its operation at Gatwick airport. The shock announcement comes after rival British Airways said it could not rule out closing its Gatwick operation. Pilots' union Balpa described it as "devastating".Many airlines have been struggling as the coronavirus pandemic has brought global travel to a virtual standstill. The airline currently employs a total of about 10,000 people.Virgin Atlantic, which is in the process of applying for emergency loans from the government, said that jobs will be lost across the board. We have weathered many storms since our first flight 36 years ago but none has been as devastating as Covid-19 and the associated loss of life and livelihood for so many," said Virgin Atlantic chief executive Shai Weiss. 'Dire situation' Balpa the union said: "This is another terrible blow for the industry and is evidence of the dire situation facing UK aviation. Balpa general secretary, Brian Strutton, said: "Our members and all staff in Virgin Atlantic will be shocked by the scale of this bombshell. We will be challenging Virgin very hard to justify this." Virgin Atlantic also said it will move its flying programme from Gatwick to Heathrow. It said it intended to keep its slots at Gatwick "so it can return in line with customer demand". However, Mr Weiss said there was no certainty when the air travel industry would recover from the coronavirus crisis."After 9/11 and the global financial crisis, we took similar painful measures but fortunately many members of our team were back flying with us within a couple of years."Depending on how long the pandemic lasts and the period of time our planes are grounded for, hopefully the same will happen this time." Gatwick said the company was "very saddened" to hear of Virgin Atlantic's plans. The airline has flown from the airport since 1984, and Gatwick said: "Virgin Atlantic will always be welcome at Gatwick and we will continue our efforts to explore ways to restart the airline's operations as soon as possible, in the knowledge that they intend to retain their slot portfolio at Gatwick for when demand returns." It was 28% at British Airways. Now 30% of jobs will be lost at Virgin Atlantic. The UK's aviation sector is shrinking in size. No airline or airport is immune.Virgin Atlantic was Gatwick's ninth-largest airline, so it's a blow, but not a knock-out punch. However, British Airways, which is Gatwick's second-biggest customer, has indicated that it also might not restart its Gatwick operation. If BA does pull out, it would carry deeper ramifications. Just a few weeks ago, several UK airports had elaborate, expensive and very controversial expansion plans in the pipeline. The big ones were operating at or very near capacity. But the whole aviation sector is living a new reality. When lockdown restrictions ease and flight schedules are increased again, there will be fewer passengers, fewer and probably more expensive flights and sadly thousands of cabin crew, pilots and ground staff will have lost their jobs. And the consensus is that it will take years for the aviation sector to bounce back to where it was before the pandemic.Commenting on its own future, Gatwick said: "We remain very optimistic about the long-term prospects of Gatwick Airport and our resilience as a business, and having remained open throughout this pandemic we are in a strong position to extend our current operations quickly to meet demand." Other airlines have already announced that they intend to cut jobs because of the collapse in demand for travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Honda will decide on a timetable for reopening its UK factory in Swindon on May 8, the automaker said in an internal memo to suppliers seen by Bloomberg News. Honda halted production at the plant in mid-March. The automaker builds the Civic compact car in Swindon, according to Automotive News Europe's Plant Assembly Map. It plans to make 430 cars a day, the company said in the memo. A Honda spokesman said a decision to restart production will be "reviewed in line with ongoing advice from the UK government as well as market and supply conditions." Honda is closing the plant permanently in 2021 as part of a global restructuring.

This full-size motorhome has a longer range, but is it enough? Laste year, the world’s first completely electric motorhome debuted at a German trade show. With a range of 124 miles, the camper showed that while the RV industry continues to work towards more eco-friendly designs, the big limitation is range. Now, that same zero-emissions RV is on the market with a longer range and interior photos, to boot. At the 2019 Dusseldorf Caravan Salon, the WOF Iridium debuted with a whopping 249 mile-range with the motorhome’s highest battery pack. Dusseldorf also allowed camper lovers a first glimpse inside the Iridium, although the layout is pretty standard Love campers, vans, and RVs? The Iridium features a dry bathroom and shower, kitchen, and a split double bed. A dining lounge in the front of the camper can seat five thanks to the swivel front cab seats, a dual-seat rear bench, and a side seat. Other amenities include an awning, navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Iridium EV is the brainchild of two German companies, ElektroFahrzeuge Stuttgart (called EFA-S, an electric vehicle retrofitter) and WOF, a camper van manufacturer. WOF contributed their commercial vehicle chassis while EFA-S provided the drivetrain and battery technology. The E-camper’s bodywork comes from the Swiss camper van manufacturer Maurer Fahrzeugbau. And while it’s great to see the interior of the motorhome, it’s the expanded range that is making waves. Real life testing will be necessary to see how close drivers can get to the newly advertised range of 249 miles, but that’s a lot more than the recently announced Winnebago Industries commercial RV that only has a range of 85-125 miles per charge. The camper most similar to the Iridium EV is probably the Nissan e-NV200, a zero-emission, factory-built camper that’s completely electric. But this pop-up camper isn’t a full-size motorhome, and it also comes with a 124-mile range before it needs to charge. THE world’s most innovative concept campers: All-electric motorhome is completely covered in solar panels Watch this telescoping French camper triple its size High-tech camper unfolds to reveal a 2-bedroom tiny house Tiny camper pod expands to 3 times its size in seconds Chic camper-trailer includes drop-down queen bed All of this begs the question: is 249 miles enough? Probably not. While that range could possibly work in more densely po[CENSORED]ted areas of Europe, any electric RV for the North American market would need to have a range closer to 350-400 miles to compete with standard motorhomes. Price is also a point of contention, as the Iridium costs significantly more than non-electric campers with similar features. The 249-mile Iridium flagship will list at approximately $219,000, while a 186-mile version will cost $188,000. Deliveries of the new vehicles will start in early 2020, and the Iridium will only be for sale in Europe.

The spring garden beckons but there is one last task for the indoor gardener Houseplants, which are trendy again, need repotting every year or two to remain vigorous and healthy. Many of these plants grow naturally in the gloomy floor of the rainforest, and although they have adapted to put up with a lot of root competition, the confines of a pot will eventually become too constraining. Certain common houseplants like to be a little pot-bound – clivias, scheffleras, peace lilies and ficus among them – but even they will need repotting in time. Now, at the start of their annual growth cycle, is the time to do it.Apart from dealing with root congestion, plants that are too long in a pot sit in soil that has become compacted and depleted and may have a harmful accumulation of fertiliser salts. How do you tell whether a plant needs repotting? Turn the pot over: The most obvious sign of a pot-bound plant is roots are growing out of the drainage holes. Hold the lower stem of the plant firmly and pull off the pot. If you see a thicket of pale roots in the shape of the pot, it’s time for action. If the pot won’t slip off, it’s probably gripped by congested roots. If the pot is plastic, you can cut the container away – I use pruners, but mind your fingers. If it’s clay, you may have to break it with a hammerAnother sign of a problem is if the plant seems continually thirsty – that is, wilting – despite diligent watering. This is because the ratio of roots to soil has become too great. The same problem can also lead to an obvious drop in plant vigour.Water the plant thoroughly the day before re-potting to reduce the stress of the ordeal and make the roots more workable.Once you’ve got the plant out of the pot, you have to tease the roots into a more natural state. The degree of effort depends on their level of overcrowding. I asked Nate Roehrich, of Brookside Gardens in Wheaton,Maryland in the US, how he deals with the task. We went in search of a plant begging to be repotted and found a cordyline suffering in a one-gallon pot.As we tackled the job I noticed that he is more gentle with the roots than I tend to be. This may be because, a week before, I had to take a large knife to the most congested root system I had seen – on an indoor palm I had purchased just a month earlier. This leads to another point: just because a houseplant is new to you doesn’t mean it is happily potted. Houseplants purchased late in the growing season or in winter have had months to grow thick roots. Buy them – especially if they’re on sale – but be prepared to ready them for the season ahead. The finer the roots, the more gentle you should be. One way to work them loose with minimum harm is to wash away the old soil with a light stream of water, preferably not ice cold.On roots that are fine but stringy, trim them back with scissors. If they are thick and compacted, you can use a knife to score the sides. On really congested roots, such as with my palm, you could use a sharp knife or even pruning saw to remove the bottom inch or so, and then take a three-pronged soil cultivator to liberate roots from one another and the old soil.Roehrich used no tools on the cordyline other than his hands. As a rule, he doesn’t remove more than one-quarter of the root mass when repotting.A root-pruned plant can be returned to the same pot, but it is better to give it a slightly larger home – a pot that is one or two inches more in top diameter. Any bigger and you run the risk of root rot because of increased soil moisture. Some pots are set in a decorative outer or cache pot and others have an integral saucer at the base, but in any event, the new pot must drain. There is a confusing array of soil and compost products for sale, but the one you want for most houseplants is potting soil (or potting mix). This is typically a peat-based concoction lightened with perlite. Some gardeners think potting soil is still too prone to waterlogging and like to add additional perlite. Orchids and succulents need their own special mixes Keep the plant at the same soil level as before – deeper and you run the risk of the crown rotting – but the soil line should be below the lip of the pot to allow for efficient watering.Hold the plant at the correct level with one hand while backfilling fresh soil with the other. Roehrich then taps the pot a couple of times to get rid of any air pockets. I like to water the plant to encourage the soil to sink, and then repack as needed. After final watering, let the plant rest – away from direct sunlight even if it’s a bright-light plant. Water again when the top of the soil feels dry. Don’t fertilise for a while; wait until you see new growth, which may take two to four weeks. The plant will first put its energy into repairing its roots before converting energy to top growth, Roehrich says.

The European Commission has launched a global effort to fund research on a vaccine and other tools to combat the coronavirus. It is hosting a virtual conference for world leaders and philanthropists in a bid to raise €7.5bn (£6.6bn; $8.3bn). European leaders have pledged support for the fundraising plan in a joint open letter. The Brussels-led initiative was set out by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Friday. The European Commission has pledged $1bn to fund research on a vaccine. Norway has matched the European Commission's contribution, and France has pledged €500m, as have Saudi Arabia and Germany. The US, China and Russia are not taking part. LIVE UPDATES: EU hosts online fundraiser for virus battle In her opening remarks at the summit, Ms von der Leyen said everyone must chip in to finance "a truly global endeavour". "I believe 4 May will mark a turning point in our fight against coronavirus because today the world is coming together," she said. "The partners are many, the goal is one: to defeat this virus." UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, another co-host of the conference, said the "more we pull together" in sharing expertise, "the faster our scientists will succeed" in developing a vaccine. Mr Johnson, who spent three nights in intensive care with Covid-19, was to confirm the UK's pledge of £388m for vaccine research, testing and treatment during the conference. Along with the European Commission, the conference is being co-hosted by the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway and Saudi Arabia. Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are also among those who have signed up to the initiative. In the open letter published in weekend newspapers, the leaders said the funds raised would "kickstart an unprecedented global co-operation between scientists and regulators, industry and governments, international organisations, foundations and healthcare professionals". "If we can develop a vaccine that is produced by the world, for the whole world, this will be a unique global public good of the 21st Century," they added. At the same time, the signatories gave their backing to the World Health Organization in the face of US criticism of its handling of the outbreak.

1. I think the topics on the forum are seen as articles in a newspaper, to attract more people I think the same rules apply as in the media regardless of whether speaking of newspaper or news online .First of all the title should be an attractive one that makes you press the topic but let's not forget the content, being the most important.I think the choice of a suggestive picture and the most original content attracts, at first glance to look aesthetic but when he reads it to make you want more. Could make monthly lotteries , one to be free but contain certain questions to which answer edit some passages from certain topics , so the user still put more attention on the topics of the devil club but also one with payment prize being the payment collected from those enrolled , here speaking of devil coins. And a suggestion would be to add an eBest category where members can duel in betting, what do I mean? Example football team x has match with team y , member A posts that in the match will give over 2.5 goals and member B posts that they will not bet on certain amount of devil coin. 2 . For the number of views to increase on certain topics should as I suggested above , a suggestive title that attracts , an image conforming to the content and especially and most importantly a content as ORIGINAL not copy-paste from other media sites.I'm not saying you should write a topic from 0 but it's not ok to copy the tail head , a content taken from elsewhere and then modified adding a new air characteristic of each will attract more 3. I can't say that I watch very often on the news in the community, but I have a few topics that I liked and were helpful even if I didn't need it at the time but for my general culture and for the future they were helpful, these topics being: 1. Being a car enthusiast, it was the best topic I've read from the Auto/Moto section 2. Being a football enthusiast, I like to read news about transfers in any period 3. This dilemma bmw vs mercedes or audi made me read this topic out of pure curiosity about the opinion of members about this discussion in the automotive world.

Tesla Model S and X get over-the-air performance boost The update is automatically installed in examples of the two models running the latest 'Raven' powertrain and is claimed to drop the Model S 0-60mph time from 2.5sec to 2.3sec. The Model X's is reduced from 2.7sec to 2.6sec. It's not immediately clear exactly how this performance boost is achieved (some US outlets are claiming a peak power increase) but the firm lists improvements to its launch control system as part of the update. The car can now adopt a 'Cheetah Stance', lowering the front axle and adjusting the damping to boost traction off the line. Just as intriguing are claims of "improved thermal endurance" with the new upgrades for "more back-to-back runs". Again, no detail of how this is achieved has been provided, but the update is likely a response to numerous tests claiming Porsche's new Taycan is more capable of repeatable launch performance without drop-off. The update is one of countless upgrades that Tesla has rolled out free of charge to owners over the past few years. Software improvements have boosted range and added a variety of novel new features, including Dog and Sentry modes last year.

More than 20,000 people have now died with coronavirus in UK hospitals, the Department of Health has announced. The latest figures showed a total of 20,319 deaths in the UK, up by 813 on the previous day. At the government's daily briefing, the home secretary described the figure as a "tragic and terrible milestone". Last month, the government's chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, said keeping deaths below 20,000 would be a good outcome. It is 51 days since the first virus-related death was announced in the UK. At the Downing Street briefing, Home Secretary Priti Patel said: "As the deaths caused by this terrible virus pass another tragic and terrible milestone, the entire nation is grieving." She warned that "we are not out of the woods yet", and said people must continue to follow social distancing measures to curb the spread of the virus. The government's figures do not account for deaths that have happened in care homes, at home, in hospices or elsewhere in the community. These are measured separately by the Office for National Statistics, based on death certificates, and a weekly figure is announced each Tuesday. Last week that figure indicated that there were at least 1,662 deaths, up to 10 April, that were above the hospital-based number. The fact we have now passed the grim milestone outlined by Sir Patrick Vallance in less than two months is both a tragedy for the families affected and a worry to the rest of the country. There are strong signs - at least in hospitals - that we have passed the peak of deaths. The fact that may have happened without the health service being overwhelmed in the way Italy's was is at least some good news. However, the deaths in care homes, which the daily figures from government do not include, are rising rapidly and could prove very difficult to get under control. In fact, if we included them we would have passed the 20,000 mark some time ago. Asked about his and Sir Patrick's previous comments, Prof Powis said: "What we were emphasising is that this is a new virus, a global pandemic, a once-in-a-century global health crisis. "And this was going to be a huge challenge not just for the UK, but for every country." He added that it was unlikely the UK and other countries would recover from the pandemic in the next few weeks. "This is not a sprint, this will be a marathon," he said.

What color do you think the Sun is? It is a common misconception that the Sun is yellow, or orange or even red. However, the Sun is essentially all colors mixed together, which appear to our eyes as white. This is easy to see in pictures taken from space.Rainbows are light from the Sun, separated into its colors. Each color in the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet) has a different wavelength. Red is the longest, blue the shortest. When we see the Sun at sunrise or sunset, when it is low in the sky, it may appear yellow, orange, or red. But that is only because its short-wavelength colors (green, blue, violet) are scattered out by the Earth's atmosphere, much like small waves are dispersed by big rocks along the shore. Hence only the reds, yellows, and oranges get through the thick atmosphere to our eyes. When the Sun is high in the sky, the shorter waves, primarily the blue, strike air molecues in the upper atmosphere and bounce around and scatter. Hence explaining why the sky looks blue. Some people think that enough blue light is scattered out in the Earth's atmosphere to cause the Sun to appear slightly yellow. What do you think? Scientific instruments can sometimes detect light that our eyes cannot. When people want to look at those, say, X-ray or ultraviolet images, they need to color them something that our eyes can detect. So the scientists pick some bright color, a color that would never be confused with viewing the Sun in white light. That way, we know from seeing a picture of a neon green or bright red Sun that the image was actually taken in some non-seeable version of light such as extreme ultraviolet or X-rays. It is hard for many people, even scientists, to admit that the Sun they are so used to living with is actually white. So sometimes they even color pictures of the Sun taken in visible or "white" light to look more like something we would expect. Below is a picture of the Sun taken in visible white light, but which the scientists have processed to make it appear orange, for our benefit! Sometimes the display color of the Sun is culturally determined. If a kindergartener in the USA colors a picture of the Sun, they will usually make it yellow. However, a kindergartener in Japan would normally color it red! In spite of these "artistic licenses", the Sun really is white!

BMW will bring its compact coupe-SUV in line with the latest 1 Series with revisions to the exterior and cabin enhancements The prototype seen here features a level of camouflage typical of a modest styling revision. The most obvious change is at the front, where stickers try to hide the removal of the spotlamp-style foglights in place of more neatly integrated LED items. Expect to also see some changes to the signature kidney grille, blanked off from view here. BMW has been experimenting with bolder, larger grille designs with other models and it’s likely the double-kidney shape will be made to stand out more on the X2, as it was on the facelifted X1. Revisions to the front and rear light profiles, new colours and fresh wheel designs are also likely. The spy shots give us no indication of what’s going on inside, but we know from the updates to the X1 that new materials and upholstery options will be in store. Given that the current X2’s dashboard design and infotainment are now less current than the 1 Series', there could also be some alterations of the design and software upgrades. Likely to coincide with the facelift, the PHEV version will use a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine mated to a 94bhp electric motor on the rear axle and a 9.7kWh battery pack. It claims a 31-mile all-electric range in the X1

Disinfectants are hazardous substances and even external exposure can be dangerous A leading disinfectant producer has issued a strong warning not to use its products on the human body after Donald Trump suggested they could potentially be used to treat coronavirus. Reckitt Benckiser, which owns Lysol and Dettol, said "under no circumstance" should its products be injected or ingested. President Trump faces a backlash over his comments at a briefing on Thursday. Disinfectants are hazardous substances and can be poisonous if ingested. Even external exposure can be dangerous to the skin, eyes and respiratory system. Mr Trump's comments have been heavily criticised by doctors and have generated a huge online response. They have provoked hundreds of thousands of comments and caused well-known cleaning brands to trend on social media. Reckitt Benckiser, which also owns the brands Vanish and Cillit Bang, said its products should not be administered "through injection ingestion or any other route". "Our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information,. What did President Trump say? During Thursday's White House coronavirus task force briefing, an official presented the results of US government research that indicated coronavirus appeared to weaken faster when exposed to sunlight and heat. The study also showed bleach could kill the virus in saliva or respiratory fluids within five minutes, and isopropyl alcohol could kill it even more quickly. Mr Trump then hypothesised about the possibility of using a "tremendous ultraviolet" or "just very powerful light" on or even inside the body as a potential treatment."And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute," he said. "And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? "Because you see it gets in the lungs and does a tremendous number on them, so it'd be interesting to check that," he said. His comments have dominated social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit. Many compared his idea to a dangerous viral trend in 2018 where people ate Tide laundry detergent pods. Lysol, which is one of the America's best known cleaning brands, has been named in tweets at least 125,000 times since the White House news conference. Owners Reckitt Benckiser said they issued their statement on Friday "due to recent speculation and social media activity".

Science Explains Why Cat Eyes Look And Function The Way They Do The pupil control how light passes through the eye and it operates pretty much just like the aperture of a camera. When light is plentiful, the pupil shrinks. When light is scarce, the pupil dilates. All animals' pupils do this to some extent. But cat's eyes can do this much, much better than ours can. It's why they can see so well in the dark. Cat pupils are thin-slitted and vertical and they can expand much wider than our pupils can when light is scarce. In fact, a cat's pupils can dilate enough to cover almost all of the iris and can expand up to 135 times its size. Therefore, cats can see much better in the dark than we can. All animal eyes have cells in the retina called photoreceptors that process the light our pupils let in and synthesize it into a map for the brain to interpret as an image. There are two kinds of photoreceptors: rods and cones. Rods pick up light while cones interpret colors. These cells then produce impulses that travel to the brain where they are deciphered into the images we see. But cat eyes have one more trick that helps them to see so well in the dark — and it's the reason why cat eyes glow. Ever thought your cat's eyes looked so luminous that they were reflective? That's because they are. Behind your cat's eyes are specialized cells, called the tapetum lucidum, that reflect light outwards — much like light hitting a mirror. They thus can illuminate their own path like a pair of headlights on a car.
