This full-size motorhome has a longer range, but is it enough?
Laste year, the world’s first completely electric motorhome debuted at a German trade show. With a range of 124 miles, the camper showed that while the RV industry continues to work towards more eco-friendly designs, the big limitation is range.
Now, that same zero-emissions RV is on the market with a longer range and interior photos, to boot. At the 2019 Dusseldorf Caravan Salon, the WOF Iridium debuted with a whopping 249 mile-range with the motorhome’s highest battery pack. Dusseldorf also allowed camper lovers a first glimpse inside the Iridium, although the layout is pretty standard.
Love campers, vans, and RVs?
The Iridium features a dry bathroom and shower, kitchen, and a split double bed. A dining lounge in the front of the camper can seat five thanks to the swivel front cab seats, a dual-seat rear bench, and a side seat. Other amenities include an awning, navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Iridium EV is the brainchild of two German companies, ElektroFahrzeuge Stuttgart (called EFA-S, an electric vehicle retrofitter) and WOF, a camper van manufacturer. WOF contributed their commercial vehicle chassis while EFA-S provided the drivetrain and battery technology. The E-camper’s bodywork comes from the Swiss camper van manufacturer Maurer Fahrzeugbau.
And while it’s great to see the interior of the motorhome, it’s the expanded range that is making waves. Real life testing will be necessary to see how close drivers can get to the newly advertised range of 249 miles, but that’s a lot more than the recently announced Winnebago Industries commercial RV that only has a range of 85-125 miles per charge.
The camper most similar to the Iridium EV is probably the Nissan e-NV200, a zero-emission, factory-built camper that’s completely electric. But this pop-up camper isn’t a full-size motorhome, and it also comes with a 124-mile range before it needs to charge.

All of this begs the question: is 249 miles enough? Probably not. While that range could possibly work in more densely po[CENSORED]ted areas of Europe, any electric RV for the North American market would need to have a range closer to 350-400 miles to compete with standard motorhomes.
Price is also a point of contention, as the Iridium costs significantly more than non-electric campers with similar features. The 249-mile Iridium flagship will list at approximately $219,000, while a 186-mile version will cost $188,000. Deliveries of the new vehicles will start in early 2020, and the Iridium will only be for sale in Europe.

American Taylor Townsend says she regularly gets mistaken for other female black players.
The 24-year-old spoke about her experiences in a Tennis United video as she discussed the anti-racism protests following the death of George Floyd.
"Everybody sees a black person and they assume that it's Venus or Serena (Williams) or Sloane (Stephens)," said world number 73 Townsend.
"I've been literally all of them down the list except for myself."
She added: "I've had people argue with me to tell me that I'm Coco Gauff. I'm not Coco Gauff but all of us look the same, all of us are built the same."
There have been widespread protests across the United States since Floyd, an unarmed black man, died last month after being pinned down by a white police officer.
Sixteen year-old Gauff, one of the rising stars in tennis, gave an emotional speech at a Black Lives Matter protest, saying she "demands change now".
Fellow American Frances Tiafoe, the men's world number 81, posted an Instagram video also featuring Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and Gauff.
In the video, Tiafoe and girlfriend Ayan Broomfield put their racquets down and raise their hands to "spread awareness about the unjust deaths of many African-Americans".
Townsend said: "Even from the aspect of, you walk through and nobody stops you, and I'm walking through and somebody has to check my bag, check my credential, check my coach's bag, check my coach's credential.
"It's extra security, extra precautions that need to be taken to make sure that I belong.
"This is our reality. It happens all the time - week in, week out, every tournament that I play in the States, overseas, it doesn't matter.
"It's not going to change. Hopefully, this (Black Lives Matter protests) just creates a safe space and an awareness for people to want to talk about it.
"Not to be uncomfortable, not to cringe. To be able to be open-minded, understand and really kind of open your eyes, take yourself out of it and try to put yourself in someone else's shoes."

Trump has misled Americans about many aspects of the current crisis -- downplaying the coronavirus threat, exaggerating chances for rapid economic recovery, distorting the nature of protests by describing participants as "arsonists, looters, criminals and anarchists wanting to destroy ... our country.

Trump sent federal officers to forcibly disperse Americans peacefully protesting the police killing of an unarmed black man.
John F. Kennedy summoned the nation to shared purposes: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." When the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba on his watch turned into a fiasco, Kennedy accepted personal responsibility.
