No es ningún secreto: Windows 10 está en las últimas, y a partir de octubre de este mismo año, su soporte llega a su fin. A partir de ese momento, los usuarios solo pueden optar por asumir riesgos y seguir usando este sistema, actualizar a Windows 11 para seguir usando Windows sin peligros o pagar por recibir actualizaciones durante un año más (3 años en el caso de empresas). Sin embargo, hace apenas unas horas, Microsoft acaba de anunciar una alternativa más que permitirá seguir recibiendo actualizaciones para Windows 10 totalmente gratis durante un año más… pero con una condición.
Extended Security Updates (ESU) es el servicio por el cual los usuarios de Windows 10 seguirán recibiendo actualizaciones críticas de seguridad para este sistema operativo. En el caso de empresas, Microsoft usará este servicio para ofrecer hasta 3 años más de actualizaciones, con un precio que parte de los 60 dólares anuales y que se irá duplicando año tras año. En el caso de Windows domésticos, ESU solo permitirá actualizar Windows 10 durante un año más a cambio de un pago único de 30 euros por PC.
