  9. Apple's Mac OS X El Capitan update releases on 30 September The Mac might have been a no-show at Apple's big event today, which brought us the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, iPad Pro, new Apple TV, and various Apple Watch updates, but there was a sort-of-subtle announcement hidden amidst the demos. While showcasing the new 3D Touch (Force Touch) feature on the iPhone 6s, we caught a glimpse of a staged email between Apple execs Phil Schiller and Craig Federighi. Titled "El Capitan status," the email from Phil read: "El Capitan is looking great and the feedback from the beta has been fantastic. I say we get it out to customers ASAP!" The El Capitan ship date is September 30." Emphasis theirs, of course. And to add an extra wink to the news, it added, "P.S. Apple Confidential and Super Secret" in bright red lettering. A late September launch is earlier than expected, given the October release for the last couple OS X iterations, but it looks like we'll have OS X 10.11 El Capitan ready to download before the month's out. And maybe we'll see that rumoured 4K refresh of the 21.5in iMac early too, if we're lucky. If you haven't been following the latest news about El Capitan and didn't jump into the public beta test, read our recent look at the five best new features found in OS X 10.11 - and go ahead and start backing up your Mac so you're ready when 30 September hits. Social media companies have ‘ethical duty’ to shop terrorists, says MI5 chief as he demands more powers to snoop Facebook and WhatsApp messages MI5's director general has said social media companies have an 'ethical duty' to expose and report terrorists to the security services as he backed the Government's proposed Snoopers' Charter. In the first ever interview by a serving MI5 chief Andrew Parker backed new Government legislation which would allow security services to monitor online communications by would-be terrorists. There have been a number of high profile instances of terrorists using sites like Facebook and Twitter and encrypted messaging app Whatsapp to radicalise, recruit and plot their terror attacks. 11. Kia is building a 400bhp four-door super-saloon been four years since Kia revealed the GT Concept, a 400-odd bhp, V6, RWD super saloon with suicide doors. And it’s been two years since Kia’s VP of overseas marketing, Soon-Nam Lee, confirmed to TG.com that the Concept GT would make series production by the end of 2016, or early 2017 at the latest. And Good News, people of the Internet - it’s still happening. TG caught up with Kia’s head of European design, Gregory Guillaume, at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, who confirmed the GT is in development. “It’s a completely new vehicle for us,” said Guillaume, “not based on any existing platform, so you do need a certain amount of time, after the decision was taken, to go ahead with the car. You need to do it right, it’s going to be our first step in that direction so we don’t want to make any mistakes.” Guillaume admits Kia isn’t likely to sell masses of GTs in Europe. However, he expects it to sell well in America, where “customers are much more open-minded. We do expect to do big numbers in the US. It will be a very important car for us.” He also promises the production car will be “as true as possible to the concept”, and that size-wise, the GT will not have a direct competitor. “You could expect that a car like the GT would fit in between an A5 or A7, a 4 Gran Coupe and a 6 Gran Coupe,” he says. 12. The Thunder Power is Taiwan's 450bhp all-electric saloon This extraordinary machine is called the Thunder Power. It is a thing. A real car, no less, unveiled in a corner of the Frankfurt Motor Show sporting a full electric drivetrain and 450 horsepowers. It’s the brainchild of CEO Wellen Sham, a man who took over a tooling company four years ago and turned it into the purveyor of excellently-named electric cars. The name, it’s just… magnificent, isn’t it? “Why the name? Because it’s electric,” Once you’ve gotten over the whole Thunder Power thing – surely a 1980s cartoon castaway? – we can tell you that the chassis was designed by Sham himself. “We are developing a new technology that is able to blend carbon fibre, aluminium and steel,” Sham tells us. That combination is what the whole thing – chassis and body – is made of. Sham patented the technology, telling us it’s offers a flexible, modular base, able to scale up to something like an SUV, or scale down to a smaller supercar. We’ll come back to the supercar thing in a second – he’s going to build one, apparently – because not only did Sham design the Thunder Power’s chassis, complete with a multi-link suspension setup, but also the battery pack and motor too. Horsepower? For the saloon, around 450bhp and 413lb ft. Sham himself admits this figure is not exactly, um, lightning. “It’s not really that much,” he tells us. Still, it’s good for a 0-62mph time of less than five seconds, and a top speed of 155mph. Source : TOP GEAR

  15. G.Skill announced that its Ripjaws series of mechanical keyboards will be coming to market soon -- namely, the KM780 RGB and KM780 MX devices. Like many mechanical keyboards on the market, these new keyboards use Cherry switches. The only real difference between the KM780 RGB and KM780 MX is that the former uses Cherry's RGB switches and RGB backlighting. Initially, the KM780 RGB will be available with Cherry MX RGB Brown and Cherry MX RGB Red switches. Similarly, the cheaper KM780 MX keyboard will be available with Cherry MX Brown and Cherry MX Red switches. Both keyboards will be available later with Cherry MX Blue switches. These switches are rated at 50 million keystrokes, and last longer than conventional switches used on keyboards. For additional durability, G.Skill used a 2 mm-thick aluminum plate on top of the keyboards. As a customization feature, the keyboards include replaceable keycaps with a puller tool, all inside of a handy storage case. The keyboard supports a wide range of extra function buttons. On the top-right corner of the keyboard are five keys for controlling the media programs, as well as a roller that can control the audio. Below the switches is an LED volume display to make checking audio systems easier. On the left side of the keyboard are six programmable macro keys. Directly above the programmable keys are seven additional keys, three of which are hotkeys (Windows lock, brightness, and timer), and the other four are easy-access keys that allow you to change keyboard layouts on the fly. The first two of these keyboards, with Cherry Brown switches, are already out now, with the KM 780 RGB available for $159.99, and the KM780 MX available for $119.99. The keyboards with Cherry Red switches are expected to come out some time later this month, while the Cherry Blue versions will not be available until later.
  16. iPad Pro vs Surface Pro comparison: Windows or iOS 9… which tablet is best? Microsoft clearly got it right with the Surface Pro as the iPad Pro not only sounds like it, but looks like it too. But which tablet is the best? We compare the new iPad with the latest Surface Pro and spot the differences to help you choose. ------- It had been rumoured for more than a year, but no-one expected Apple to announce an iPad Pro at an iPhone launch event (much less that Microsoft would also appear on stage). But it's real and its closest competitor is Microsoft's Surface Pro. Both tablets run Office and both have physical keyboards, but which should you buy? Here's our iPad Pro vs Surface Pro comparison. It would be easier to compare the new iPad with the Surface Pro 3, but the Surface Pro 4 is about to launch in a few weeks, so we'll make comparisons with both of them. Bear in mind that we're going by rumours about the Surface Pro 4 as no specs have been confirmed at this time. Microsoft is keeping tight-lipped until the 6 October launch. We will, of course, update this article when the Surface Pro 4 is official. SPECIFICATIONS Here are the key specs for the iPad Pro iOS 9 Apple A9X 64-bit processor 4GB RAM Up to 128GB storage 12.9in Retina display (2732x2048, 264ppi, 4:3) multitouch display Lightning port 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, dual-channel Bluetooth 4.2 8Mp iSight camera, 1.2Mp FaceTime camera Four speakers with auto orientation Optional Apple Pencil Battery life up to 10 hours (web browsing) 305x220x6.9mm 713g (723g cellular model) And here are the Surface Pro 3's vital stats: Windows 8.1 Pro (free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro) Intel Haswell Core i3/i5/i7 processor Up to 8GB DDR3 RAM Up to 512GB SSD 12in ClearType full-HD (2160x1440, 216ppi, 3:2) multitouch display USB 3.0 port 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Bluetooth 4.0 Mini DisplayPort 2x 5Mp cameras (front and rear) Stereo speakers with Dolby sound Surface Pen Battery life up to nine hours (web browsing) 292x201.3x9.1mm 800g PRICE The cheapest Surface Pro 3 costs £639, which includes the Surface Pen, but not the keyboard (that's £110 extra for any Pro 3). This model has a Core i3, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The most expensive has a Core i7, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That's £1549. The 32GB iPad Pro costs $799 (we expect it to be £599 in the UK), but the Pencil could cost as much as £79 inc VAT, making the comparable price £678 for the entry-level model. The Smart Keyboard is likely to cost £129 inc VAT. Opt for the 128GB iPad Pro and you'll pay at least £100 more if not £120 extra. Add another £100 for the cellular model, which is available exclusively in 128GB guise. First VERDICT When we reviewed the Surface Pro 3 - almost a year ago - we concluded that it was the best yet. It's the most portable of laptops and an acceptable tablet. Nothing has changed with the update to Windows 10. With the iPad Pro, it's the best yet in some ways - it's the most powerful iPad and has the highest resolution screen - but it may not be the best choice for everyone who wants an iPad. Until we've reviewed it we can't come to any firm conclusions but it's likely to be the opposite of the Surface Pro: a fantastic tablet and an acceptable laptop.
Vom vedea insa totul in foarte scurt timp.

  23. Didn’t ask for Windows 10? Your PC may have downloaded it anyway Whether you want Windows 10 or not, Microsoft says it may download the files to your PC regardless. In a statement to the Inquirer, Microsoft confirmed that it automatically downloads Windows 10 installation files on eligible PCs, provided automatic updates are enabled through Windows Update. The download occurs even if users haven’t opted in through the Windows 10 reservation dialog. “For individuals who have chosen to receive automatic updates through Windows Update, we help upgradable devices get ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files they’ll need if they decide to upgrade,” Microsoft told the Inquirer. “When the upgrade is ready, the customer will be prompted to install Windows 10 on the device.” When reached for comment, Microsoft told PCWorld that the downloads occurred around the time of Windows 10's July 29 launch. Why this matters: Microsoft appears to have crossed a line in its zeal to move people onto its latest operating system. Several reports indicate that the Windows 10 files take up as much as 6GB of storage in a hidden folder, potentially hamstringing machines that don’t have much free space left. Even worse, users who have strict data caps could face hefty overage charges for a massive download that they didn’t even ask for. Bye-bye bandwidth PCWorld has also heard from several readers on this issue, including one whose data plan has been affected by the automatic download. The reader, who runs a small computer repair shop, did not reserve Windows 10, yet recently noticed 6GB missing from his main desktop. Upon further investigation, the reader’s daughter—who lives in an area without wired Internet and relies on Verizon Wireless for connectivity—had also automatically downloaded the installation files. “They do not wish to upgrade at this time, as they prefer to stay with Windows 7,” the reader said. “But they’re four days into their wireless plan, and have used more than half of their allowance because of the Windows 10 download.” The Inquirer also spoke to a reader who said Windows 10 tries to install itself every time the machine is booted. It’s unclear if this is typical behavior for those who haven’t opted into the upgrade. This isn’t the only instance where Windows 10 has gotten users into trouble with data caps. By default, the system also uses peer-to-peer networking to distribute Windows 10 updates, potentially eating up bandwidth without users’ knowledge. What you can do It’s worth noting that Windows Update provides users with a few auto-install options. Enabling “Important” updates provides security and stability fixes, while “Recommended” updates are meant to improve non-critical issues. There’s also a “Microsoft Update” option for other software such as Office. We’ve reached out to Microsoft to see which of these tiers enables the auto-download of Windows 10 files. In the meantime, some users have reported success at removing the files and Windows 10 update prompts by entering the following into command prompt as an administrator: WUSA /UNINSTALL /KB:3035583code> This should at least remove Windows 10’s update notifications, but we haven’t confirmed whether it removes the installation files and prevents further downloads.
