[Mobile Games] Konami reports a 48% increase in profits due to its strength in mobile games

Japanese video game giant Konami reported a 48% year-over-year increase in its second-quarter operating profit, driven by the strong performance of its mobile gaming segment.

Quarterly operating profit reached ¥36.5 billion, up 32% from the previous quarter and exceeding analysts' consensus estimates of ¥35 billion by 6%.

For the first half of the fiscal year, Konami's operating profit totaled ¥65 billion, a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. The company's mobile games, particularly eFootball and baseball titles, were the main drivers of this growth.

Despite the strong first-half results, Konami maintained its full-year operating profit guidance at ¥106 billion, which appears conservative given current performance trends. If second-half results simply match those of the first half, the company would achieve approximately ¥130 billion in operating profit for the full year.

The mobile game eFootball showed exceptional momentum following a major update celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary. The game has now surpassed 900 million downloads. Despite Konami's efforts to reduce monetization, a significant increase in monthly active users boosted mobile game sales by 19% quarter-over-quarter and 33% year-over-year.

The company announced plans to release Momotaro Dentetsu 2: Anata no Machi mo Kitto Aru for Nintendo Switch in November 2025, featuring the largest amount of content in the series' history with two maps.
