Dredge sees you taking on the role of a lone amnesiac fisherman in Greater Marrow, a small island chain. Your job is to bring in your catch and sell it to the local fisherman. Simple, right? Well, between the deranged locals, mutated fish, creepy artefacts and terrifying sea monsters, this certainly puts Deadliest Catch to Shame.

Yes, if you've ever played something like Sunless Sea, Dredge functions as a fully 3D spiritual successor. As the fisherman you'll explore the various island chains, upgrading your ship and bringing in bigger and deadlier catch, salvage and more. Just be careful, because when the fog draws in at night strange beings scratching at the edge of sanity are the least of your worries!

 

Dredge was a near-instant fan favourite for obvious reasons. The realm of nautical horror is one which encapsulates a huge number of exciting and terrifying themes, while simply chugging along the waterways and watching your plucky fishing boat can be just as relaxing as the rest of Dredge is stressful. Graphically it skirts the line between stylised and surreal, and with plenty of DLC that could theoretically make the jump in future there's a suite of content to look forward to.
