Geeknetic MS-DOS: La historia del sistema operativo 1

When PCs or personal computers began to become fashionable in the early 80s, they did not come with elaborate graphic environments and the great help of the mouse. This system was known as DOS and had different versions depending on the computer it was developed for. But of all of them, it was Microsoft's MS-DOS (MicroSoft Disk Operating System) that stood out due to its compatibility with IBM PC-compatible PCs from the early 80s. But let's see where this Microsoft operating system came from and get to know it. his story.

In the early 1980s, IBM launched its PC for home users, but in order to sell it it had to integrate a system capable of managing the included hardware. IBM commissioned the development of a system from Bill Gates' Microsoft, which created an important union and gave Microsoft part of the fame it has today. Although IBM only a few years later commissioned another version for IBM PCs, Microsoft continued to sell its own version for clone computers or compatible with IBM PCs, which it called MS-DOS.

This continued to grow due to the fame that compatible PCs were gaining, much cheaper and even more powerful than the originals. These worked with the copy that Microsoft continued to sell, competing with PC DOS 1.0 and even later versions and OS/2. The system developed by Microsoft continued to advance until it became part of the systems with a graphical environment in the 90s from which the current ones we know have evolved.

But MS-DOS has had many versions with which improvements have been introduced and adapted to the changes of the time. It did not disappear (nor has it disappeared) completely, since it has been part of many versions of Windows and has existed along with others (from Windows 1.0 to 3.11) throughout history and is even present in current Windows as a symbol of the system.

But let's see how this MS-DOS evolved, of which even today we continue to use it as an emulator to be able to run old games.
