[Auto] The JAECOO brand adjusts its range: the JAECOO 9 becomes the J8

It is worth saying that JAECOO is complementary to Omoda and one could not exist without the other. While the second will focus on customers with an active lifestyle, JAECOO "was designed for urban elites with extraordinary tastes."

Initially, JAECOO debuted with the JAECOO 7 and JAECOO 9. The first is a medium SUV twinned directly with the new Chery TJ-1, with 5 seats; the second is a 7-seater SUV based on the new Tiggo 9.

But now, taking advantage of Chery Group's Technology Day 2023, JAECOO showed the JAECOO 8, which also sported eye-catching patents that said J8.

JAECOO 9 above and JAECOO 8 below, they are the same.

A new car? No, the same JAECOO 9 renamed. Consulting some colleagues who are present in China, they tell us that it is indeed the same JAECOO 9, a maneuver that would allow in the future to launch a larger SUV within the JAECOO brand that uses the number 9.

And Chery is immersed in a confusing process of creating brands to cover practically all world markets. Omoda and JAECOO were born with that ambition, to use the Chery and Exeed models and go out to conquer more complex markets, such as Europe and the United States. And for the same reason he continues to improvise. For example, it was learned in China that the Exeed RX will be marketed as Omoda 9.

 

 

We do not know if that will happen in Chile, but it should not be ruled out.

The "new" J8

The JAECOO 8 or simply J8 is a large seven-passenger SUV measuring 4,818 mm long and 2,800 mm between the axles, built on the new T2X platform, which is an evolved version of the previous T1X modular base. It has independent suspension on both axles (McPherson front and multilink rear) and disc brakes on all four wheels.

The design of all JAECOO will have a huge waterfall grille, a visual effect given by many chrome bars in a vertical arrangement. The headlights are divided, leaving the LED DRLs above that are attached to the grille, while below, near the lower corner of the bumper, are the main headlights divided into two independent projectors.

The darkened pillars stand out and match the black roof, offering a classic two-tone body look. At the rear there are horizontal headlights visually united with a black strip. Two-tone 19 or 20-inch wheels (with red calipers) and chrome roof bars complete a very well-designed package.
