Red Dead Redemption is a non-linear action-adventure western video game developed by Rockstar San Diego. The game was officially announced on February 4, 2009, and was released on May 18, 2010 in North America and May 21 in Europe and Australia for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.2 It is considered the spiritual successor to Red Dead Revolver, released in 2004.3

It is the story of an outlaw that takes place in the last years of the American Far West, in 1911, and tells the story of former bandit John Marston, who is blackmailed by federal agents who have threatened his family to help impose law enforcement on the US-Mexican border and capture his former partner, and current bandit, Bill Williamson. The action of the video game is located in the fictional states of New Austin, Nuevo Paraíso and West Elizabeth.

Since its release, Red Dead Redemption has enjoyed unanimous critical acclaim, holding a score of 95/100 on reviewers Metacritic and GameRankings. Rockstar Games has released five downloadable content for the game: Mythos and Forsaken, Outlaws to the End, Legends and Killers, Liars and Cheats, Hunter and Merchant, and Undead Nightmare. In October 2010 it was announced that four of these expansions would be compiled on a single disc: its launch took place on November 26, 2010. The video game has sold more than eleven million units on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms since to be released to the market. On July 8, 2016, sales increased as the title came to Xbox One thanks to backward compatibility with Xbox 360.

Synopsis
The story of Red Dead Redemption is set on the Mexican-American border, in the year 1911, and stars John Marston, a former outlaw belonging to a dangerous gang (led by another outlaw named Dutch Van der Linde), who is blackmailed. by federal agents, Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham, of the newly created Federal Bureau of Investigation. The objective is for him to track down and eliminate his former gang comrade, Bill Williamson, to see his family again and trace his life on his ranch, since the feds kidnapped his family as a way to ensure the fulfillment of the mission that John was forced to participate.

Wild horses are easy to find and are an essential means of transportation in Red Dead Redemption.
Marston arrives at the Armadillo Railroad Station in New Austin State. After locating the contact that the federal agents had hired to guide Marston, the two head to Fort Mercer, an old abandoned army fort, where Bill Williamson and his own gang are entrenched. In their first meeting in several years, Marston is gunned down from the top of the walls by several members of the gang, including Williamson, and after a brief chat trying to persuade his former partner to turn himself in to the authorities, Williamson's men shoot Marston, who is badly wounded and falls unconscious. However, a young rancher from Hennigan's Stead, Bonnie MacFarlane, picks him up and takes him to her ranch to tend to his injuries. At the MacFarlane Ranch, Marston recovers and while doing various chores on Bonnie's farm as a way of thanking him for saving his life, John begins to finalize the preparations to catch Williamson, and then travels with Bonnie to Armadillo where she introduces him to the city sheriff, Leigh Johnson. The commissioner promises to help Marston with his mission if he helps to maintain order in the area first. During his stay in New Austin, John Marston meets a series of characters who, in one way or another, help him progress in his goal, some of these being Nigel West Dickens, a small-time con man who promises miracle cures for everything. the state; Seth Briars, a sick treasure hunter; or the Irish, Welsh and French immigrant vagabonds. As John helps Commissioner Johnson, they both manage to capture Norman Deek, second in command within Bill Williamson's gang who, upon learning that John was still alive and hiding at the Macfarlane ranch, decides to attack the property. causing a fire from which Marston manages to rescue the ranch animals, but Bonnie would be kidnapped and John, after a strong skirmish, would manage to rescue her.

After doing different favors to a good number of people in New Austin, Marston, the commissioner and other colleagues prepare the assault on the fort where Williamson is entrenched with his men. Unfortunately, and after the massacre that takes place there, Marston learns that his target managed to escape the night before the attack, abandoning his gang and fleeing to Mexico to meet up with another old comrade in Marston's gang, Javier Escuella. 5 Marston
