[Mobile Games] It's the game we've been waiting for for five years and that's exactly what worries me, but it's time to trust Supercell again

Squad Busters may be that game that definitely ends Supercell's drought

Es el juego que llevábamos cinco años esperando y eso es exactamente lo que me preocupa, pero llegó la hora de volver a confiar en Supercell

When Supercell announces a new video game, the celebration is subdued. All the fans of the company want to try it. However, Clash Royale or Brawl Stars users know that the launch is by no means guaranteed. Despite the fact that the average quality of the titles proposed by the developer is very high, the policy is to only launch those that can be a lasting success. A maximum demand that has caused more than 30 canceled developments, but that has also given rise to some of the most successful games in history.

Squad Busters will be the next title to undergo Supercell's rigorous trial. A new hope for all of us who are eagerly waiting for a new game from the company. It was made available through a testing phase that has just ended. A solid, fun title with the potential to grow much more as its development progresses towards a final version. It seems like good news, but the truth is that there is exactly the concern. It is one of the mobile games that I have enjoyed the most in recent times and that, taking into account the company's past, may disappoint me.

A game that must end the drought of Super Cell
Within a minute of starting the game, you already know enough to enjoy Squad Busters games. Supercell has returned to that idea of offering a very simple experience that gains in depth as the user wants to take the game more seriously. In this sense, it is a title compatible both with the most competitive members of the community and with those who just want to kill five minutes of their time while waiting for the bus or riding the subway. It is a perfect adaptation to the most common forms of play on both iOS and Android.

Squad Busters Mods

Squad Busters matches begin by choosing a character from three available options. However, our group will get bigger by opening chests. For this we will need gold coins that we can obtain by fighting against other players, eliminating neutral monsters or exploiting resources on the stage. Luck plays an important role, but not fundamental. It will be the responsibility of the players to adapt to the new units that they get, trying to create the most balanced team possible to reach the final phase of the game with a chance of victory.
The map gets smaller as the four minutes into the game progress and what at first was a quiet gathering of resources in which we were barely bothered by the rest of the players quickly turns into a chaotic confrontation. Our 'squad' will automatically fight against enemies in its attack range while we move or launch special abilities. As in almost all Supercell games, strategy plays a very important role. Managing the use of spells, which are similar to Mario Kart items, and positioning ourselves well on the map for the final confrontations is what will give us victory almost every time.

Squad Busters Personajes

The pace is frenetic and generates very funny moments. One of the main problems with the first Squad Busters beta, which took place a couple of months ago with a much more limited scope, is that it was quite slow. However, from the developer they have more than solved it, giving rise to an extremely satisfactory loop that is complemented by a sensation of constant progress both inside (getting more characters) and outside the game (improving their performance through elixir). I didn't get to play as many times as I would have liked, but every time I opened the game I had a hard time finding a moment to stop.

The idea works and has potential for both improvement and expansion. Perhaps it lacks clarity, since it is difficult to determine exactly how much each character contributes. However, that's one of the few flaws I found throughout the entire experience. I am guilty of liking 'autobattler' a lot and there are many mechanics here directly inherited from this genre. However, most of them come with improvements. Squad Busters adds dynamism and expression of skill, leaving behind the static board for a live scenario that forces us to make decisions in real time.

The truth is that the sensations were almost perfect. It is one of the mobile games that I have enjoyed the most in recent times. That's why I'm worried that it could be canceled or that its release won't convince the rest of the players as much as it convinced me. However, you have to trust the potential of one of the most powerful development teams on the planet to iron out possible rough edges. I like Squad Busters, and I think it would be a very nice way to end the release drought that Supercell has been suffering for the last five years.
