Honkai: Star Rail has had a smashing premiere. The new HoYoverse video game took advantage of the traction generated by the good performance of Genshin Impact in the three years that have elapsed since its launch to attract more than ten million users to its pre-download campaign. A lot of players who then tried the title on the first day and have been amazed. The starting point of the adventure is far superior to that of previous games from the developer and, to a large extent, it is thanks to the details. In fact, it has been a most inconsequential element that has captured the attention of the community in the first hours.

Interacting with objects in the environment is a common element in many titles, but in Honkai: Star Rail they have taken the opportunity to turn this habit of RPG players into a recurring joke. When we approach a garbage can in the first city of the game we can get closer to start a strange conversation. "You've been looking at it for a while, but it's just an ordinary garbage can (...) You try to resist the urge to open it," the game tells us. The funny thing comes when we insist a couple of times: "You have kept staring at the garbage can, it seems to transform before your eyes. The edges are no longer rusty and the dents look smoother."

The talk goes on to describe how garbage cans have become a seductive object. "For a moment, it seems to have been transformed into a treasure chest," the game tells you. From here begins a kind of secondary mission that does not appear in the registry and that invites you to continue diving into all these elements. The reward is not so much the objects that we can obtain or the absurd mini-story, but the jokes that the writers of Honkai: Star Rail have been placing throughout all the containers that we can explore. It is something recurring in the initial zones of the first planet of the video game (Jarilo-VI).

 

 

The resource is repeated with mailboxes or cabinets, laughing a bit at the habits of RPG players in general and JRPGs in particular. It is well known that in these titles resources are usually hidden in places that we would never think of reviewing in the real world. It is part of our behavior in video games, having practically become a universal custom.
