@CharliAviless Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Igor Zdrowowicz is a modder currently working on a 'HL2RTX'. This is a mod for the classic Valve title Half Life 2 that adds path tracing thanks to NVIDIA software. The first mod dates from before NVIDIA announced that RTX Remix would be open source. The modder uses the Portal RTX Remix binary code to achieve these results. Hopefully, now that the code is open source for all modders and game developers, in the future the results will be even more spectacular. RTX Remix is a software modding platform for DirectX 8 and 9 games. It adds all of the latest generation graphics technologies and visual effects to games that would otherwise never look as great. The process simplifies the improvement of titles thanks to the power of AI-based tools. Developers and modders can remaster older titles with higher quality textures, a new lighting system, or by adding technologies like ray tracing and DLSS. Half Life 2 is a veteran title that can currently work on any PC or device. With Igor's RTX mod, the title now works with path tracing, which is undoubtedly the most advanced technology for GPUs currently available in video games. The modder does not reveal how demanding the application of said technology is in the title, but the video included in this news shows a fairly fluid gameplay at 1080p resolution. Unfortunately, there is no link to download the mod yet, although it's probably too early to expect the titles to work just 2 days after RTX Remix's public release. https://fanaticosdelhardware.com/half-life-2-se-renueva-con-path-tracing-gracias-a-nvidia-rtx-remix/
