The company will soon introduce a new compact SUV, codenamed YFG in the country. Rumoured to be called Maruti Suzuki Vitara, the new model is reportedly to be introduced in the third week of July 2022. Adding to it, the company also plans to launch 2 more SUVs in 2023. NEW MARUTI SUZUKI VITARA Production of the new Suzuki Vitara will commence in August 2022. The new model will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the new Brezza and the recently unveiled Toyota Hyryder. The new model will share most of the components with the Hyryder; however, Maruti Suzuki will make certain changes to keep things fresh in the market. The new model will come with differently styled front fascia with inspiration from new Brezza & the global Suzuki A-Cross. The new Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre K15C petrol with mild hybrid setup and Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle engine. The former is capable of producing 101bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The hybrid powertrain features a 1.5L petrol engine with an electric motor offers 79bhp and 141Nm of torque. The combined power output stands at 115bhp. The system features a 177.6V lithium-ion battery and offers an electric-only range of up to 25km. Transmission duties will be performed by Toyota’s e-drive gearbox. MARUTI SUZUKI JIMNY MSIL will introduce the 5-door version of the Jimny lifestyle SUV in the country in 2023. It is reportedly to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The new 5-door Maruti Jimny production is likely to be commenced in the early 2023. The SUV is reportedly to be launched in the first quarter of FY23-24, between April to June 2023. It will be based on the existing 3-door Jimny Sierra. The SUV will sit under 4 meters in length and will be significantly cheaper than the Mahindra Thar 3-door. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, K15C petrol engine that produces 105PS and 137Nm of torque. The SUV could also receive a mild hybrid system for improved fuel efficiency. Based on the ladder frame chassis, the new Jimny 5-door will get low range transfer gear and 3-link rigid axle suspension along with Suzuki’s Allgrip Pro 4-wheel drive system. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be on offer. MARUTI YTB SUV COUPE Maruti Suzuki is also preparing a new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB, based on the Baleno’s HEARTECT platform. The new SUV Coupe is reportedly to be sold alongside the Brezza and will come with higher degree of electrification. It could be the production version of the Futuro-e Concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is reportedly to be the sportiest Maruti SUV, and will have a more SUV-coupe design. It will be sold through NEXA premium dealerships. The upcoming Maruti YTB Compact Coupe SUV will be offered with a single petrol engine option. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a stronger hybrid with a greater degree of electrification. This will help in achieving higher fuel efficiency.
