Revo Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Rabat - Morocco’s embassy in Kiev has issued a new set of free-toll phone numbers for Moroccans attempting to evacuate Ukraine through land border crossing points. Given the closure of the Ukrainian air space, Morocco’s embassy in Kiev has instructed Moroccans in Ukraine to head for the closest land crossing-points joining Ukraine and Poland, Romania, Slovakia, or Hungary. For Moroccans going through Poland, the embassy invites Moroccan nationals to address any inquiries to the following phone number: 008003211419. As for Moroccans attempting to evacuate through Romania, they can use the following free-toll phone number: 0800410139. Moroccan nationals closer to the Slovakian border can contact Morocco’s embassy in the country through the following phone number: 0800601748. Moroccans attempting to return to Morocco through the Hungarian land border may access embassy assistance through the following phone number: 0680216008. Previously, Morocco’s foreign affairs ministry announced yesterday that it was in the process of coordinating with embassies in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Romania to guarantee access of Moroccan nationals through said borders without the need for vaccination proof or visas. In another statement today, Morocco reiterated support for the territorial integrity of member states of the United Nations, with Morocco’s foreign affairs ministry commenting on the Ukraine invasion earlier today in an official press release. The diplomatically-crafted statement steered clear of speaking in support of either Ukraine or Russia, with both countries being important diplomatic and economic partners for Morocco. The statement explained, however, Morocco has been following the recent escalations “with concern,” and that the country “encourages all initiatives and actions promoting a peaceful settlement of conflicts.” With many reports pointing to the increasing possibility of a Russian offensive in Ukraine in much of the past weeks, Morocco’s foreign ministry has been mainly focused on evacuating Moroccan citizens from Ukraine. Morocco’s embassy in Kiev has long issued instructions for all Moroccans residing in Ukraine to evacuate the country following a series of reports from US intelligence indicating the build-up of Russian troops along its Ukraine border. 1
