WhatsApp is finally beginning to introduce the dark theme in almost all its versions. WhatsApp for Android was the first to receive it a few weeks ago in its beta version 2.20.13, while the iOS beta has also started offering it a few days ago from 2.20.30.25. Now, WhatsApp Web is also preparing to receive the dark theme.

This has been revealed by WABetaInfo, with a native function where we can finally do without plugins and other modifications that changed the color of WhatsApp Web. The appearance is very similar to what we find in the mobile versions, and it even seems to be slightly darker.

The feature is still in a very early phase of implementation, as it started just a few days ago, and is obviously not available to the public yet. This is why, for example, emojis don't look good yet and have a white box around them. The stickers, however, do look good and don't have any white frames around them. The colors remain the same as on mobile, where the background has a dark gray with a certain shade of blue, while the chats use a dark green.

Thus, although it is still in a very early phase of implementation, the dark theme of WhatsApp Web is well advanced. To activate it, we still cannot find a setting in the Settings panel that allows us to activate it. The most logical thing for the future is that we find a switch in the navigation panel, or a whole new section in the Settings menu.

The launch date of the function remains a mystery, although seeing how advanced it is, it would not be unusual for it to be launched throughout the month of March, coinciding with the inclusion in the stable versions of iOS and Android where it has been working correctly since the launch in both betas without presenting any bugs. When WhatsApp decides to officially launch them, it will make an announcement on its blog, so we will have to be vigilant.

Regarding the version of WhatsApp for Windows 10, it would be expected that the option to apply the dark theme would also be included because it is still a webapp based on the version for browsers, so it is likely that when they launch the stable version, do it also for official computer applications.
