EvKirito Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Santo Domingo The Investigating Court of the Hermanas Mirabal province sent a man to prison who kept the community members of the town of El Coco I and surrounding areas, in the Villa Tapia municipality, uneasy due to the constant robberies perpetrated in recent months in agricultural plantations of the area. According to a press release, Judge Francis Antigua imposed a three-month coercion measure against Santiago Veloz Roque, alias Sanguillín, for his connection with the theft of dozens of chickens from a farm, on November 26. In the instance with the request for coercion measures, the Public Ministry establishes that the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Veloz Roque entered the poultry farm and was surprised by an employee of the place who reported it to his immediate superior. He adds that both saw the accused flee with a sack loaded with chickens. The Public Ministry provisionally classified the events as a violation of Articles 379 and 385 of the Dominican Penal Code. The court ordered that the accused Santiago Veloz Roque serve preventive detention in the Juana Núñez public prison, in the Salcedo municipality. The Prosecutor's Office reported that the accused has a long criminal record for different events that have caused unease to the residents of these towns, belonging to the Villa Tapia municipality. 1
