ITS OZX- Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 The United Nations Special Coordinator for Peace in the Middle East, Nikolay Mladenov, said that a peace treaty between the UAE and Israel could change dynamics across the region and create new opportunities for cooperation, at a time when the Middle East and the world are facing serious risks due to the Covid-19 pandemic and extremism, as well as It will create economic opportunities and opportunities for peace. This came during a media briefing at the virtual session of the Security Council, which was held on Tuesday morning, days after the announcement of the peace treaty reached between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Mladenov said that the treaty stopped the Israeli annexation plans of the occupied West Bank, adding that the two-state solution was the only option to stop the annexation plans. "I hope that the treaty will inspire all parties to re-engage constructively in meaningful negotiations to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," Mladenov said. He indicated that the two-state solution is the only option that can lead to achieving a lasting peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Two states live side by side, in peace, security and mutual recognition. He said, "One cannot ignore the legitimate national aspirations of the five million Palestinians who live in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem and Gaza." The UN official called for taking advantage of opportunities, discussing and discussing every idea, to get out of the circle of data, preventive diplomacy, conflict management, and work for a real, sustainable solution in line with relevant United Nations resolutions.
