20th century everyday reality. Machado having coffee in Las Salesas, Valle-Inclán walking along Paseo de Recoletos, Ramón and Cajal giving a dissection class or Romero de Torres painting in his studio. But also festivals, folk festivals, dance marathons or auto racing cycles and historical scenes such as the assembly of the horse of the statue of Philip III in the Plaza Mayor or the transfer of the elephant hunted by the Duke of Alba from the Botanist to the Museum of History Natural. All these everyday scenes were portrayed by Alfonso, a series of photographers and a pioneer of photojournalism in Spain, throughout the 20th century.
