Rayan™ Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Some bad news for the hardcore enthusiasts out there: Mazda is dropping the manual option from the Mazda 6 mid-size sedan for the 2019 model year. The company confirmed the news to Jalopnik, citing low demand. Mazda refreshed its 6 sedan in late 2017, adding a turbocharged engine and some new, sleek looks. While we were worried Mazda would drop the manual then, the stick shift persisted, being only available with the base naturally aspirated 2.5-liter motor Mazda told Jalopnik that despite dropping the manual 6, it will continue to listen to its customers. “If their desires should change in the future,” Mazda told Jalopnik, it will “respond accordingly.” “At Mazda we are always listening to our fans, especially when it comes to what they are looking for from our vehicles,” Mazda told Jalopnik. “As we have moved the Mazda 6 upscale with the launch of the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models, we have seen less demand for a manual transmission option." This isn't great news, but don't worry too much. Mazda offers a manual on the all-new Mazda3, and, of course, the MX-5 Miata. But if you want a mid-size sedan with a stick-shift, you'll have to go elsewhere. May we suggest the Civic Type R-engined Honda Accord 2.0T?
