Ford Explorer Platinum 2018 debuta

With the aim of making the competition tougher within the segment of medium SUVs, Ford extends the Explorer 2018 range with the arrival of the Platinum version.

This variant, already known in other models of the brand, stands out for the high level of equipment focused on comfort and safety, as well as greater performance. This allows the Explorer not only to stand out against its direct competitors - Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mazda CX-9, Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander - but also allows to catch up with the mid-size luxury trucks by the number of elements that equips series.

The Sport version, but endowed with luxury
Based on the drive, this new version shares the same six-cylinder engine found in the Explorer Sport, which means that it carries the V6 twin-turbo (EcoBoost) 3.5-liter with 365 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 foot-pounds of torque to 3,500 rpm, as well as a total traction system and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Where the contrast between the Sport and Platinum variant starts is in the body. While the former has an aggressive image through the decorations in black, in the case of this new option stand out the chrome on the grill-honeycomb design, mirrors, roof bars, handles, 20-inch wheels and lighting LED

Once the aesthetic differences have been identified against the Sport variant, let's go inside, which is where this Platinum version stands out the most. Through a large dose of luxury and comfort, this truck receives materials and decorations to raise the magnificence. Therefore it receives leather upholstery, details of wood and aluminum, and most interestingly, an arsenal of equipment focused to make driving safer and more comfortable.

Very complete equipment
The most striking are the front seats with massage function, the digital cluster, the second row of heated seats, the screens in the headboards of the first row, the information and entertainment system with SYN3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto , third row electrically foldable and adjustment of the pedals.

Like the Explorer Sport, this Platinum option offers a large number of elements focused on security. As a prelude to what is to come for autonomous vehicles, this SUV offers adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, lane departure preservation and parking maneuver assistance. To this must be added 180-degree front camera, blind spot alert and blind spot traffic alert.
