G.O.G Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 At least 6 people were killed and more than 100 injured after a magnitude-6.7 earthquake shook the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. The quake struck at 10 am Friday with its epicenter in waters 14 kilometers northeast of Surigao City, at the southern tip of Mindanao, according to the Philippine seismological service that did not issue a tsunami warning. The earthquake, whose epicenter was located ten kilometers deep, had initially caused four deaths, at least one of them a minor, said the governor of the province of Surigao del Norte, Sol Matugas. Further information collected by the local press raised the death toll to six, after the death of two elderly, one of them heart attack. Of the more than 100 injured, 68 have been admitted to the regional hospital of Caraga, in the center of Surigao, and 13 are in serious condition, according to EFE. Authorities have declared a state of disaster in the city of Surigao, where numerous buildings and infrastructures have suffered heavy damage, including the provincial capitol, a shopping center and two bridges
