Charles Michel, the Belgian prime minister, reiterated Monday the position of Belgium to the European Council President Donald Tusk that still unable to sign the trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and Canada, known as CETA. Meanwhile, the socialist Paul Magnette, Minister-President of the Belgian French-speaking region, has stated that "under the current circumstances we can not give a yes." Magnette Wallonia had warned that "never decide anything under pressure," and noted that while imposing ultimatums will not be possible "to have a calm discussion and democratic debate" on the CETA agreement. "We are not against a treaty with Canada, but we do not want social norms, environment, protection of public services and do not want courts to private arbitration in which multinationals can attack the United endangered" he added. The situation of CETA, which carries seven years in preparation, is a setback for the trade policy of the European Union at a time when the block through a series of crises that have raised uncertainty about the project.
