Destrozos por el tifón Lionrockn en China (AFP)

BEIJING Typhoon Lionrock so far has caused losses of 1.600 billion yuan (239 million dollars, 214 million euros) in China, but so far has not led to casualties, reports the official Xinhua news agency today.

Since arriving Monday until Friday, Lionrock has forced the evacuation of 46,000 people in the north of the country due to heavy rains that has left in the region of Inner Mongolia and the provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang, according to latest data provided by the authorities, Efe quoted.

The storm damaged 1,300 houses and 464,900 hectares of crops, and 8,500 people urgently need assistance, estimates the country's Ministry of Civil Affairs.

This is the tenth typhoon of the season to hit China and arrives after crossing Japan, where it killed at least eleven people and the disappearance of another 21.

Lionrock through the Asian giant after the recent onslaught of Nida, more powerful typhoon that hit the south of the country in more than 30 years.

Nida affected nearly 500,000 people and caused (77 million dollars, 69 million euros) economic losses of 510 million yuan, while no one was injured.
