World pirate has always been very intriguing, so it's not hard to realize why it was chosen as the backdrop for the newest action / adventure produced by Ubisoft. Corsair romantic principles fit perfectly solipsistic ideology of Assassins ("nothing is true, everything is permitted"), while a pirate's life is in about the same activities they undertook any hardcore fan in the previous game.

If you are not familiar with the events of the series, do not worry - so-frame story and the characters of virtual reality concerns us. General knowledge about the overall story always helps, but they are not necessary for understanding the action of Black Flag.
Incidentally, I was never a fan of story-frame AC series, for which I enjoyed to some extent the reduction from the Animus's segments.
In the "real" world, the player plays the newest employee of Abstergo Entertainment, and the first task is to explore the life of Edward Kenway father (or grandfather) protagonist of Assassin's Creed III pretext study for a possible video game produced by the corporation.
