With its two new devices, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiami is resolutely turning to foldable ones. It even offers clamshell phones in two form factors, since the MIX Fold 4 is foldable vertically and the MIX Flip horizontally.

Would they really become fashionable, foldable smartphones? Indeed, we have already seen new models from Motorola and Samsung recently, and now Xiaomi is also presenting its new MIX range. The vertically foldable MIX Fold 4 and the horizontally foldable MIX Flip feature improved hinge technology, according to the Chinese manufacturer. And inside, it claims to have eliminated the differences from with non-foldable smartphones.

In the Fold 4 MIX, smartphone enthusiasts will discover several important breakthroughs, according to Xiaomi. The first concerns the improved hinge: Xiaomi claims to have redesigned it with powerful materials and a carbon-ceramic steel transmission mechanism, resistant against wear and making the device even thinner and lighter, with a thickness of only 4.59 mm (in unfolded mode) and 9.47 mm (in folded mode).

In addition, the battery capacity has been increased by 260 mAh compared to that of the MIX Fold 3 to bring it to 5,100mAh. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is cooled by a new ‘3D cooling' type system, with cooling by thermal steam chamber. The interior screen is an LTPO E7 panel manufactured by Samsung with a resolution of 2,488 x 2,244 pixels with an adaptable refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz and HDR10 + image technology. Outside, there is a 6.56-inch C8+ screen with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, also with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Both screens also offer Dolby Vision HDR.

The photo island includes four lenses from the renowned German manufacturer Leica. The main camera incorporates the new Dual Native ISO Fusion Max technology, which captures enhanced colors and details in a high contrast scene. The 12 MP ultra wide-angle lens offers a 120° field of view, while a 50 MP telephoto lens has macro photography and portrait effects capabilities. Finally, there is a 115 mm ultra-telephoto periscopic lens ensuring better close-ups.
