-J3SUS-
In Spain, more than 300,000 animals are abandoned every year. This is a fact that has been made public by the animal rights party PACMA and which is also accompanied by another no less worrying fact: Spain continues to be at the top of Europe in animal abandonment. The president of PACMA, Javier Luna, has declared: “Spain cannot lead the sad ranking of abandonment and must react so that 1,000 animals are not abandoned every day.” Furthermore, it is in summer when most domestic animals are abandoned by their owners. At this time of year, more than 100,000 animals are abandoned on roads, gas stations, doors of establishments, kennels, etc., according to the aforementioned organization. In addition, this is a figure that is growing every year, instead of decreasing. For this reason, the Animalist Party is calling for increased penalties for abandonment in our country. These sanctions are currently “clearly insufficient, since anyone who abandons a vertebrate animal that is under their responsibility, in conditions that could endanger its life or integrity, will be punished with a fine of one to six months or community service of thirty-one to ninety days. An insufficient measure and a lack of severity,” says Javier Luna in statements to Tele5. https://www.elperiodico.com/es/medio-ambiente/20240818/300-000-mascotas-abandonan-ano-107108035
