Crystal Journey is a lightweight indie puzzle adventure game set in bright 3D environments that we can rotate and zoom however we like to see the level from every angle. The goal in each stage is to reach the exit guarded by a locked door. To get there, we must first find all the hidden keys by traveling along narrow paths, climbing ledges and ladders, operating buttons and switches, and using teleporters. Most levels also introduce deadly hazards, such as spikes, cannons, or lasers. Some of these can be easily avoided, while the others require precisely timed actions, which I found a bit unnerving for an otherwise relaxing game. While I appreciate the game's vibrant art style and use of the 3D space, it’s sometimes hard to navigate the levels due to the poorly responsive controls. Some elements are simply too small or covered by other objects to let us properly see them, and just a single inaccurate tap can lead our character in the wrong direction. Crystal Journey is a premium game that costs $0.49 on Android and $1.49 on iOS. Aside from a couple of frustrating levels, it is a relaxing experience that I’m sure a wide variety of puzzle fans will enjoy – despite the mediocre controls.
