[Auto] Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro: plug-in hybrid versions complete the range

Recommended Posts

The Audi Q8 was renewed a few months ago to set the bar higher in the premium SUV segment. However, we felt that something was missing. The mechanical range started with two diesel versions and two other gasoline versions, but electrification was conspicuous by its absence (beyond the Q8 e-tron). That is until now when the plug-in hybrid variants finally arrive on the market to offer the ZERO label to those interested in this technology. These are the Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro that are now available.

We speak in plural because the Audi Q8 has two plug-in hybrid versions with that aforementioned configuration. The entry-level model is the 55 TFSIe quattro, which has a combined power of 394 HP and 600 Nm of torque, achieving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. One step above would be the 60 TFSIe quattro, which reaches 490 HP and 700 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. In both cases the maximum speed is limited to 240 km/h or 135 km/h when driving in electric mode.

This range of Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro can recharge its battery to a maximum power of 7.4 kW, so it would reach 100% in three hours and 45 minutes. The driving modes stand out from the rest, an EV to force electrical energy whenever there is a charge. In hybrid mode there is an Auto to move intelligently with the action of the two motors and a Hold to maintain the battery charge level. There would also be a Charge mode to recharge the battery with energy from the gasoline engine. Inertia loading has also been improved in this example.

Another interesting advantage that can be fitted for the first time in the Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro is the four-wheel steering, which combines perfectly with other elements such as the electronically controlled air suspension with adaptive damping. The equipment also improves by bringing 19 to 21-inch wheels, rear view camera, parking assistant and comfort key as standard. Also the S line sports package at the top of the range. The price starts at 102,995 euros for the 55 TFSIe quattro and goes up to 109,745 euros for the 60 TFSIe quattro.
