The green brand has shown the new KLX230S and KLX230SM, the first at the Japan Mobility Show and the second at the Osaka Motorcycle Show. The biggest difference between the 2024 versions is that they exceed the demanding anti-pollution standards that were introduced in Japan in 2020. To do this, Kawasaki has had to work on the intake and ECU parameters.

The brakes and suspensions have also been updated, while the aesthetics are reminiscent of the KX. Equipment varies between the Kawasaki KLX230S and KLX230SM. The SM supermoto uses 17-inch wheels on both axles (21” and 18” on the trail), in addition to mounting a 300 mm front disc brake (265 mm on the S). On the other hand, on the trail the rear ABS is disconnectable, a function that is not available on the SM.

The KLX230SM is the only superbike currently produced in Japan. Its sister, the KLX230S, has two strong rivals in the Japanese domestic market, such as the Honda CRF250L and the Suzuki V-Strom 250SX. The particularity is that the Honda uses a liquid-cooled engine, the Suzuki uses air and oil cooled and the Kawasaki uses air. The manufacturer has not yet declared the power of the new KLX230S and KLX230SM, but if the CRF delivers 24 HP and the V-Strom 26 HP, it is expected that the green models will perform similarly. The price is another important information that is yet to be revealed. We will continue to inform.
