We have already been able to test two motorcycles with the revolutionary "e-clutch" assisted clutch. They are the Honda CB 650 R and the CBR 650 R, the naked and sporty one with the four-cylinder engine of the “golden wing” firm that already exceeds the Euro 5+ for motorcycles and which still has many years of validity left. Goodness.

Better than a quickshifter
These are the first two Honda motorcycles that will be equipped with the new electronic clutch system, something that allows us to stop, start, shift up and down without having to touch the clutch lever and that goes one step beyond a QuickShifter.

The electronic clutch or eClutch works with several sensors that anticipate the decision to change gear and activate, with a servomotor, the clutch cam. It allows us to go up or down gears or stop the motorcycle without having to operate the lever, taking into account that it is a manual gearbox.

In this link you have the test with all the details of the Honda CB 650R and CBR 650.

Josep Armengol was able to speak at length with several Honda engineers and explained to us in detail how the eClutch works and his impressions of the motorcycle. He will also tell us if this will replace Honda's DCT or double clutch in the future, or if this other gear change system will still make sense.
