The Yamaha XT250 began to be manufactured in 1980 as a simple trail, ideal for secondary roads and dirt roads. Until Rambo himself piloted one in the movie First Blood (cornered). In Japan it was called Serow, who is actually an animal from that country, a mixture of goat and antelope. For matters of environmental homologation, in 2020 the Serow stopped sold in Japan but continues in catalog in other countries.

Serow began its journey as a small trail of 225 cc, in its second evolution the displacement rose to 250 cc and electronic injection was adopted. The changes allowed the model to be in the Japanese market for 35 years.

In an interview with Young-Machine.com journalists, Daiji Matsuoka, Sales Director of Yamaha Japan, confessed: “We are very sorry for the loss of that model and we think we must do something about it. We are preparing for it with the limited resources we have. ” To which Toyoshi Nishida, Yamaha Development Director, the following: “When I looked at our range in Japan and abroad, I was surprised to verify that we do not have a model like the serrow. A motorcycle with which you can go slowly through the field. ”

What will the future Yamaha XT250 Serow be? Most likely, it will be updated from the models that are still selling in different markets. In the USA continues in a catalog under the iconic name of XT250, while until 2022 in India, the FZS25 was sold that mounted the same propeller as the small trail.

Another option would be to use the liquid -refrigerated monocylinder of 155 cc, which in Indonesia and other countries is sold as WR155R. It is a modern engine that would not have problems overcoming current approval although perhaps 155 CC is little displacement to replace the Yamaha XT250 Serow.

In Japan Kawasaki has announced that in summer it will sell the KLX230 again, so the return of the Serow 250 (Yamaha XT250) is less crazy than it might seem. We will continue to inform.
