Mr.Daniel Posted January 15 Share Posted January 15 Novak Djokovic looked like he was going to have an easy start at the Australian Open, but the 24-time Grand Slam champion was surprised by young Croatian Dino Prizmic in a thrilling first-round match on Sunday. The Serbian, who aspires to enter Grand Slam history with his 25th title, a record, won in four sets (6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4), but had to use more in-depth than many would have imagined. Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, the favorites for the Australian Open "When you think about it, I'm twice his age," Djokovic joked during his on-court post-match interview. "Reality hits hard tonight, but I'm trying to enjoy every moment on the court. I struggled in a lot of different moments tonight, but that's to his credit." Prizmic, 18, made his Grand Slam main draw debut against the 10-time Australian Open champion after advancing through qualifying at Melbourne Park last week. In the early stages, Djokovic took a set lead on the Rod Laver Arena. But the 2023 French Open junior champion showed nerves of steel as he began to impose his game on arguably the greatest player of all time.
