Every day that passes we are more surprised by the things we see on the Internet, and it is not unusual from time to time to see some news about how someone spends their money in vain by buying in a store of dubious trust. In this case, we can see how this can happen, since there is a scam with the RTX 4090 through the Asian website Carousell.

If we don't want our money to go to the store twice, we generally tend to buy products that we know will work well on pages or establishments that we trust, since in the end, when buying, for example, a component for our computer, we don't want to have to spend twice as much to try to save a little. Although sometimes we may fall into buying something cheaper and of lower quality, it is possible that the losses we have had are not as great as that of this Carousell marketplace user.

An RTX 4090 without GPU?
Marketplaces have been part of online commerce for a long time, since they are typical websites for buying and selling objects in which a user simply trades with another user to get rid of what they no longer need, although there are many people who They see a business in this by selling reliable and good quality products, there are others who see it differently, being able to scam people who are looking to save a little when buying something.

In this case, a user from an Asian marketplace claims that he was scammed when purchasing an RTX 4090 from the MSI assembler, from a Carousell user, because when he got home, assembled it and turned it on, he realized that What I had bought didn't even serve as a fan, since they didn't even work, the only thing that worked were the lights on the graphics card itself. Although there are people who may think that this may be due to a connection failure, the dissipation unit not working well and so on, you will be surprised to know that when the user decided to open the graph, he found that it had absolutely nothing inside.

And the graphics card really did not have a GPU, and part of the VRAM had been eliminated, so that its visual appearance was that of a normal video card, but inside there is only an empty plate, which only powers the ARGB lights.

The scam problem
Currently there is a problem when buying second-hand items, and that is that in general we always tend to look for what is cheaper, so at some point we can end up visiting marketplace pages that do not verify that the transactions among its users they are truthful, and even more so when making this deal in person, as has happened to the user of this scam with an RTX 4090.

And among other things, when buying something second-hand in person, we must always make sure that the object is authentic and functional, since it can happen to us like the person who bought this graphic, who after spending 13,000 Hong Kong dollars (equivalent to €1,500), in a second-hand graphic, has tried to go to the police to find the scammer, to no avail.
