FNX Magokiler Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 When we talk about American brands in Mexico, it is more than clear that there is one that completely dominates the entry-level car segment in our country. Chevrolet, through the strategic alliances that General Motors formed in China, has brought cars to Mexico from brands or groups such as SAIC, Baojun, Maxus and Wuling. From Wuling we have the most important model of all in the entry segment for Chevrolet in Chile, the Chevrolet Sail, whose most recent generation was even reinvented with a hatchback variant. Now from China, Wuling presents the Xing Guang, a compact sedan with plug-in hybrid mechanics that promises a lot of efficiency at an affordable cost. The image really has a nicer design work with a front full of details in the grille, headlights placed in the low area and chrome contrasts in certain areas. The sides reveal a traditional sedan silhouette, while the wheels can vary between 17 and 18 inches. The rear part has lighting that runs throughout the trunk and that to a certain extent reminds us something of the Kia EV6 GT. Now, what catches our attention is its size, 4.8 meters long. If it were a traditional brand, it would be measuring itself against cars like the Mazda 6 or the Peugeot 508, but we are sure that Wuling will play the "more size and less price" card, very typical of access Chinese manufacturers, so with that size, it will surely look to target C-segment sedans like a Nissan Sentra or a Hyundai Elantra. Mechanically, it is powered by a 1.5-liter combustion engine and an electric motor that together develop 174 hp. The battery is 9.5 kWh which, according to the brand, would give it a range of about 70 km per charge. Inside, it uses a fairly simple and minimalist design, practically copied from that already seen in other cars of origin, although to the taste of the Chinese customer, they add a 10.1" screen to the center, a 7" digital instrument panel and some color accents to raise the perception of quality. Wuling even announced that they have plans to launch a completely electric variant. If the General Motors collaboration continues beyond the Sail, this model could be an important addition to the range in Chile for the compact segment. Clearly we are just speculating, but due to the characteristics of the model, it could well suit our market. https://noticias.autocosmos.cl/2023/12/18/wuling-xing-guang-un-sedan-de-gran-tamano-a-precio-razonable-y-que-podriamos-ver-en-nuestra-region
