The model was initially launched in 2010 and was renewed for the first time in 2017, establishing itself as the most successful SUV in the Old Continent (the best-selling in 2022), with more than 2.2 million units delivered to date, and also in Latin America, although under another brand.

New Duster: total reinvention

This generation produced in Romania launches a new brand identity and also a new design, more modern and technological, without abandoning its classic robust and powerful aesthetics. And the letter Y is part of this change, found in the design of the LED lighting signature (front and rear), in the pattern of the wheels, in the contour of the air vents, and on the interior panels of the doors.

The designers worked from two simple volumes (cabin and hood), and added very marked lines to generate muscle. The front is vertical and wide, the wheel arches are marked, the rear hatch is immense, there is a long glass surface. Simple shapes and prominent volumes, says the brand.

Obviously the off-road imagery is present through the plastic moldings on the fenders and the lower areas, the roof bars, the thick front and rear bumpers, the feeling of greater ground clearance.

"The style of the interior is taut, robust and gives a real feeling of protection," says Dacia regarding the cabin. Everything starts from a tall, wide and vertical dashboard, with air vents that replicate the design of the wheel arches.

The ergonomics have been taken care of to make it easy to use. There is a 10.1-inch central screen oriented 10° towards the driver, the controls on the box are ergonomic and the new steering wheel with a two-part design is easy to use.

The new Duster debuts on the CMF-B platform, which had already been used before in the new Sandero and Logan, and which allows it to offer a greater interior volume than that of the previous generation.

Duster now measures 4.34 meters long, 1.81 meters wide, 1.66 meters high, while the trunk now grows to 472 liters (VDA). Regarding its off-road capabilities, it offers a ground clearance of 209 mm in the 4x2 version and 217 mm in the 4x4, with approach angles of 31° in attack, 36° in departure and 24° in the ventral angle.

New Duster is available with a 4x4 Terrain Control transmission that can be controlled through 5 driving modes:

AUTO: The transmission automatically distributes torque between the front and rear axles based on grip and speed.
SNOW: Optimizes trajectories on slippery roads thanks to specific ESC and Extended Grip settings
MUD/SAND: For driving on soft surfaces such as muddy or sandy roads.
OFF-ROAD: Offers the best capabilities on all terrain and on difficult roads. It is very close in terms of performance to the 4x4 lock mode of the current Duster, but goes further by automatically and optimally distributing the torque between the front and rear wheels depending on the grip conditions detected and the speed of the vehicle. .
ECO: Allows you to optimize fuel consumption by acting on the air conditioning and vehicle performance. It optimizes the distribution of engine torque between the front and rear axles in the best possible way to limit fuel consumption while adapting to the grip conditions of the road.
