In advance of the Japan Mobility Show that is being held in Tokyo, we told you that Mitsubishi would present the D:X Concept, a kind of 4x4 MPV with a futuristic design. And well, that is precisely what it is, although for many it may represent a preview of the next generation of the Delica.

Mitsubishi defines its D:X Concept as an electrified crossover, which seeks to combine "the comfortable, pleasant and spacious cabin space of a minivan with the excellent road handling of an SUV." For this reason, it is based on the design concept of “maximum space and safety for humans, maximum all-terrain for unlimited adventures.”

The design is quadriform, very muscular, and full of modern elements, starting with the headlights, which are quite a proposal. There are T-shaped LED Laser lights at the height of the cabin, auxiliary lights on the roof and DRLs on the edges of the front. On the back we have the same T-shaped LEDs, but in red and much larger. The logo is also illuminated.

The surfaces are very clean and smooth, with a very high waist, a rectangular glazed surface and a flat roof line, placing on it the adventurous part of the model: a large rectangular box for storing luggage.

The off-road part is very developed, with very wide wheel arches, large all-terrain tires, long-travel suspensions, plastic protections all around and, of course, low plates at the front and rear.

The immense interior space was achieved by moving the windshield to the very front, similar to the vans of yesteryear that had the front engine under the cabin. This open cabin offers six seats in three rows, which can rotate so that the occupants are facing each other.

The technology goes hand in hand with many functional elements, such as a camera that allows you to virtually see through the body (invisible hood), digital mirrors that are displayed on screens on the front pillars, and a Yamaha audio system that Includes speakers in the headrests.

As for the mechanics, Mitsibishi tells us about a plug-in hybrid powertrain similar to that of the Outlander, although he did not reveal the technical details. It does include the brand's famous Super All Wheel Control traction system and 100% electric driving mode.
