Prime Big Deal Days Live Blog: Best Savings Tech and PC Hardware

We're live blogging the best PC hardware sales on Amazon and its competitors.

Prime Big Deal Days

Amazon's Prime "Big Deal" Days is this year's second Prime Day sales event, the first occurring back in July. From October 11th through 12th, Amazon will be offering heavy discounts on all kinds of PC hardware from laptops to monitors, storage and even 3D printers.

Because Amazon is the largest online retailer, competitors such as Newegg are also holding sales. To help you separate the actual deals from the hype, we're live blogging the event here and highlighting all the Prime Day sales that are worth your time and money.

When we tested Alienware’s stunning AW3423DWF QD-OLED ultra-wide gaming monitor last year, we awarded it five stars and dropped it onto our Best Gaming Monitors page, for its deep contrast and color saturation, voluminous color gamut capabilities, and smooth motion processing. There were no downsides, save perhaps for the $1,100 asking price. But now Dell has slashed that to $799. That still makes for an expensive monitor, but your eyeballs will love you for splurging on this beautiful screen.

Alienware AW3423DWF: was $999, now $799 at Dell
The QD-OLED panel in the AW3423DWF combines the unmatched color and contrast of OLED with the high brightness that was previously only seen with other panel types. The result is a 34-inch ultrawide monitor with unmatched, wow-inducing image quality, and a 165 Hz refresh rate.

The Alienware AW3423DWF is heavy on high-end specs. It’s a 3440x1440 panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of peak brightness in HDR mode. It also sports the premium build quality you’d expect for a flagship-class monitor, plus an 1800 curve radius to increase immersion.

But really, the quantum dot OLED technology brings most of the wow factor here, delivering all the rich colors and deepest blacks of traditional OLED panels, with a level of brightness that just wasn’t available with OLED until the QD tech was applied. The result had our veteran monitor reviewer Christian Eberly proclaiming “Unless you need even more speed, it’s hard to imagine a better gaming monitor.”

Now thanks to this latest sale price from Dell, you can add some monitor perfection to your very own desk, for $300 less than its launch price, and $50 less than its lowest-ever previous price.
