• Other Information: Elena Jane "Ellie" Goulding (Hereford, December 30, 1986) is a British singer and songwriter. Ellie rose to fame after reaching the top of the 'BBC Sound of 2010' and winning the Critics Choice Award at the 2010 BRIT Awards. In late 2009, she signed with 'Polydor Records', after which she released her first EP titled An Introduction to Ellie Goulding. In 2010 she released her debut album, Lights. The album was re-released in 2010 under the title Bright Lights. In 2012 she released a new studio album, Halcyon. Their third studio album, Delirium, was released on November 6, 2015. Their fourth studio album, Brightest Blue, was released on July 17, 2020.
• Born in Hereford, England, on December 30, 1986, to Arthur and Tracey Goulding. Ellie is the second of four children. She was educated at Lady Hawkins School in Kington, Herefordshire and Sixth Form College Hereford, before moving on to the University of Kent, where she was advised to take a year off to exercise her talents. Ellie started playing clarinet and guitar and writing her own love songs. While attending the University of Kent to study dramaturgy, and being exposed to electronic music, she developed her sound, initially with the help of Frankmusik on the song "Wish I Stayed", and later with Starsmith, who became her chief collaborator. and main producer of their first album, Lights. This resulted in her dropping out of university after two years of study, and one break with her tutors, she moved to West London.
• In 2010 Ellie started dating BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James. She dated DJ and producer Skrillex from March 2012 until November 2012. After that she also dated actor Jeremy Irvine. In 2014, she started dating McFly bassist Dougie Poynter, which ended in early 2016. In March 2017, she started dating art dealer Caspar Jopling, marrying him in August 2019.
• Signed to Polydor Records in September 2009, her first single "Under the Sheets" was released on the independent label Neon Gold Records rather than Polydor so that Ellie was not put under too much pressure. Premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 30 September 2009, it has since gained much airplay. It was released digitally in the UK on 15 November 2009, and peaked at number fifty-three on the UK Singles Chart. In October 2009, she toured the UK with Little Boots (singer). On October 30, 2009 she performed the songs "Under the Sheets" and "Guns and Horses" as a guest on 'Later... with Jools Holland'. "Wish I Stayed" was iTunes Store UK Single of the Week from 22 to 28 December 2009. Ellie provided vocals on Starsmith's remix version of Passion Pit's song "Sleepyhead".
