He rose to fame as one of the lead singers of the Jonas Brothers, a pop band formed together with his brothers Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas. The band went on hiatus in 2010 and it was that same year that Nick launched his first "adventure" after the worldwide success of the Jonas Brothers, with the band Nick Jonas and the Administration. The Jonas Brothers ceased activities as a band in 2013, after which they released their second solo album - their first solo album as an adult, after Nicholas Jonas, released when Nick was 12 years old -, the namesake Nick Jonas, in 2014. In 2016, Nick released his third solo album Last Year Was Complicated. Before forming the Jonas Brothers with his brothers, he went to Broadway at the age of 6, participating in some plays, such as Beauty and the Beast and A Christmas Carol, and recorded a solo CD, titled Nicholas Jonas. Along with Joe Jonas, he was the main voice of the Jonas Brothers. In addition, he played guitar, piano and keyboard on some of the band's songs. He also played drums for the songs "Australia" and "Video Girl". Nick composed some songs by himself, such as "S.O.S.", from the Jonas Brothers album, "A Little Bit Longer" and "Got Me Going Crazy", from the A Little Bit Longer album, "World War III" and "Black Keys", from the band's latest album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times. In February 2010, Nick released an album called Who I Am, as part of the band Nick Jonas and the Administration. The album had a moderate commercial performance. In 2010 Nick participated in the play Les Misérables, which celebrated its 25th anniversary. Nick played Marius, one of the main characters in the play. He performed for a few nights in the West End. It was praised by critics, with one reviewer stating that "he is not yet up to the stage of singers of musical pieces, but he has done very well...". In 2012, he participated in another Broadway play, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, playing the role of J. Pierrepont Finch, and was nominated for a Broadway Audience Choice Award for his participation in it. In May of the same year, an EP was released, with the same name as the musical, containing five songs sung by Nick in the play. Also in 2012 Nick recorded songs for what was planned to be the Jonas Brothers' fifth album. Along with their brothers, they went through Hollywood Records, after which the three of them took over their careers, with their own label, Jonas Enterprises. In 2013, Nick, along with his brothers, announced the end of the Jonas Brothers, after the commercial failure of the band's first singles in four years, "Pom Poms" and "First Time". As a result, the planned release of the Jonas Brothers' fifth album, which was to be titled V, was cancelled. Thus, Nick began to bet on a solo career, by Island Records. In 2014, he released the promotional single "Chains" and the single "Jealous". Both went on to integrate his first post-Jonas Brothers solo album, Nick Jonas, released in November of the same year. "Jealous" became the singer's biggest hit to date, both in the US and UK, reaching No. 7 and No. 2 on the main charts for songs in those territories, respectively. In the US, "Chains" reached No. 13. In the US, "Jealous" currently holds the triple platinum award and "Chains" the platinum award. The Nick Jonas album was equally successful, peaking at No. 6 in the US and No. 16 in the UK. With this new phase of his career, Nick Jonas left behind the image of a teenager idol and started to be considered a sex symbol. In August 2015, Nick released the single "Levels", which would initially be the first advance from his third solo studio album. Instead, "Levels" was eventually integrated into a re-release of his solo album, Nick Jonas X2, released in November 2015. The album also includes Sage The Gemini's single "Good Thing", which features vocals. by Nick, released in May 2015. In March 2016, Nick released "Close", the lead single from his third solo album, Last Year Was Complicated, released in June of the same year. "Close", which reached platinum award and represented Nick's 3rd single to reach the top 15 of the Billboard Hot 100 (it reached number 13), features the vocal collaboration of the Swedish Tove Lo. Last Year Was Complicated reached No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 charts and No. 1 on Top Album Sales (the latter counts album sales in traditional terms, excluding single track sales and data from streaming platforms). In addition to "Close", the album was also promoted with the single "Bacon", which features vocals from rapper Ty Dolla Sign. Additionally, Last Year Was Complicated featured the promotional singles "Chainsaw" and "Champagne Problems".
