Rabat - French international company specializing in aeronautics and car parts announced on Monday plans to inaugurate a new production site in Casablanca.

According to a press release from the company, the new production plant will specialize in the manufacturing of composite aeronautical parts and cabin insulation solutions. 

Under the investment of $12 million, the plant is estimated to create 400 jobs, including 50 positions for engineers.  As part of Morocco’s efforts to stimulate the creation of an enabling business environment for the aeronautic industry, 30% of the investment was covered by the Moroccan government.

The inauguration will take place in the presence of a number of high-profile officials including Morocco’s Trade and Industry Minister, Ryad Mezzour, President and CEO of Hutchinson, Helene Moreau-Leroy, and Director of the Aeronautics, Defense & Industry Business Unit, Philippe Olivier, the statement explains.

Following the inauguration, the event will feature a 4.0 workshop dedicated to the manufacturing of composite parts and insulation solutions for the aeronautics industry.

Aeronautic industry in Morocco

The aeronautic industry in Morocco is capturing the government’s attention as it promises high-value goods for exports, and job creation domestically. Both promises are integral parts of Morocco’s socio-economic development strategies.

The country currently boasts a diversified aeronautic and continuously growing industry. Morocco holds at least 140 subsidiaries of aerospace companies that manufacture finished aircraft, provide maintenance, and build airport infrastructure among others, according to data from the US Trade Administration.

Aeronautics is one of Morocco’s fastest-growing industries in terms of exports. Its annual exports settled at MAD 16 billion ($1.4 billion) at the end of September 2022, up from MAD 10.5 billion ($958 million) a year earlier, official data show.
