Rabat - Moroccan football players Hakim Ziyech and Youssef En-Nesyri are set to receive millions of supportive messages for having secured three points for Morocco during their match against Canada. Ziyech gave Moroccans a surge of adrenaline and goosebumps after scoring getting a goal in Canada’s net in the fourth minute of the match. En-Nessyri, meanwhile, strengthened Morocco’s position by scoring the second goal in the 23rd minute. Fans in Qatar are not the only ones to celebrate the Atlas Lions’ performance against Canada. Moroccan internet users are celebrating the Moroccan dream which is just stepping away from becoming a reality of seeing their country’s team qualify to the knockout phase for the first time since 1986. “Morocco on Fire 2-0,” one Twitter user wrote. “It’s Africa which is winning. Go Morocco,” another football fan wrote. Citi Sports celebrated Morocco’s team, saying that “the Africans go through [to knockouts] as it stands.” While one Twitter user described Morocco as the dark horse of the World Cup. “Go my Morocco show em [sic],” the user said. Several international coaches emphasized the capabilities of the Atlas Lions ahead of the World Cup. Jordan’s head coach Adnan Hamad said: “[The] Moroccan team has the best set of players, and the opportunity is in their hands to be the dark horse of the tournament.” In addition to fans by the football pitch and online, cheering on Morocco from cafes is another level of happiness and joy altogether. The two goals against Canada make the Atlas Lions closer to qualifying for the knockout phase. The Atlas Lions have put all their efforts in their first games against Croatia and Belgium Belgium lost to Morocco 2-0 on November 27 and the game against Croatia finished with a 0-0 draw on November 23. Coach Walid Regragui is determined to clinch a win today and not a draw. In a pre-match conference, Regragui told the press on Wednesday: “Playing for a draw would be a big mistake.
