ACO has moved quickly at the prospect of seeing Porsche and Ferrari focus their efforts on their LMDh and LMH projects.

The WEC promoter considers that the LMGTE-Pro category would be unattractive with fewer than four cars.

FIA and ACO prepare for big changes in the WEC . And not only in its queen category. It is clear that the landing in 2023 of the LMDh prototypes together with the current LMH attracts all the attention of the big players -manufacturers- who are going to be part of the category, but the truth is that the next season may also be the last in which the GT of the World Cup compete under GTE regulations . The transition between these vehicles and the GT3 seems to be a fait accompli, but the idea is that it will take place in the face of 2024.

This leaves a complex scenario for next year, as the GTEs will be on the verge of retirement and the three brands that compete with official projects in the LMGTE-Pro class of the WEC have other interests . Both Porsche and Ferrari will make the leap to the top class of the WEC and IMSA with two prototypes, LMDh for the German firm and LMH for the Italian. For its part, Corvette has pending development of its own GT3 vehicle , with efforts by General Motors in the LMDh class ( Cadillac ) and NASCAR ( Chevrolet ) exerting 'pressure'.
